About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Coordinator, the Day Operator will be the operations liaison and primary contact for the maintenance team to support planning and scheduling of maintenance activities. The success of this role is predicated on optimizing, eliminating barriers and inefficiencies, and influencing elevated performance. This role requires a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, strong leadership, coaching and mentoring to the team.

Oil Sands currently has openings for four Day Operators.  While this vacancy is currently posted as Foster Creek, it will be used to fill vacancies at any of the three Oil Sands Operations sites (Christina Lake, Foster Creek, or Sunrise, based on business need).

Work Environment:Foster creek & Christina Lake

• This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 12 hrs/day and 6 hrs on the first and last day; 8 days on 6 days off; 42 hrs/week; Wednesday start; 2 week cycle

• Foster Creek and Christina Lake has full-service camp facilities

• Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations

• Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton

• Christina Lake is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB. and Lac La Biche, AB

Sunrise

• This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 12 hrs/day and 6 hrs on the first and last day; 8 days on 6 days off; 42 hrs/week; Wednesday start; 2 week cycle

• Sunrise is located approximately 100 km northeast of the City of Fort McMurray and is a fly in/ fly out remote camp-based position.

• Cenovus will provide transportation to Sunrise from designated hubs out of Calgary and Edmonton

• At the Sunrise site, employees will be provided comfortable camp accommodations and recreational amenities

What you’ll do:

• Provide troubleshooting support to the operations team for equipment difficulties or new notifications entered by operators

• Review work notifications and approves before advancing to the work order stage

• Manage the work backlog with Coordinators

• Provide guidance to the Regulatory group on equipment and inspections

• Support the Maintenance and Operations teams with the development of the annual operational maintenance budgets.

• Assist with the planning and execution of the iSTO planned outages

• Support the execution of Process Trial Requests and MOCs

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

• Legally authorized to work in Canada

• Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate

• Minimum 5+ years operating experience

• Relevant experience in cyclic steam or SAGD thermal recovery heavy oil operations would be an asset

We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
