The Day Camp Canoeing Specialist is responsible for the safety, well-being and supervision of the campers. All assigned duties will be performed in a manner reflecting the YMCA of the USA character development traits of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility.

What You’ll Do

• Ensures the safety and well-being of all campers in the group and camp-wide and ensures a risk-free environment for all.
• Assists with the planning and implementation of activities in accordance with the camp
• schedule, submitting written plans prior to each week or as assigned by Camp Director.
• Maintains positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff.
• Implement canoe curriculum in program spaces during the camp day.
• Follow and maintain safety guidelines.
• Actively participate in all aspects of the day camp schedule as assigned.
• Maintains expectation of the YMCA requirements/rations and help others do the same.
• Works collaboratively with Counselors for assigned group during activity time.
• Ensures compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• Must be at least 18 years of age and/or have prior experience in working with children in a camp environment.
• Ability to effectively use technology for programmatic needs.
• Attend all required pre-camp and camp season trainings and meetings as scheduled.
• Obtain and maintain all new hire certifications and trainings before first day of camp.
