About the Opportunity
Inalab has an immediate opening for a Database Specialist to support NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) Office of Dissemination (W/DISS) under the System Engineering and Analysis Support Services Contract. The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) consecutive years of experience directly developing, integrating, and managing complex multi-variant databases.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform Database management tasks on the NWS dissemination systems such as NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR), NOAA Weather Wire Service (NWWS), International Services and Communication Systems (ISCS), Emergency Manager’s Weather Information Network (EMWIN) and All Hazards Collection System (HazCollect) – Legacy (HCL).
- Develop, maintain access and correct databases.
- Perform accurate database entries, corrections, and use in mapping efforts for NWR sites and charts.
- Provide highly technical expertise in the use of database management.
- Provide design input and build database driven applications.
- Define tile organization, indexing methods, and for specific user applications.
- Perform and contribute to the team effort in resolving all DST tasking and meeting performance objectives.
- Provide weekly feedback to the Team Lead and Government Task Manager(s) on assigned tasks noting any schedule or deliverable variances.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 consecutive years of experience directly developing, integrating, and managing complex multi-variant databases
- Experience with Python scripting and/or Perl
- Prior experience at NOAA NWS is a plus
