As the Database Engineering Lead, you will balance technical leadership with hands-on execution, direct-managing a small team to optimize and scale our enterprise data platforms. In this role, you will evaluate, review, and manage complex database environments to ensure high availability, low latency, and automated repeatability across the enterprise. It’s an ideal opportunity for a technical expert looking to lead from the front while shaping Equifax’s data infrastructure
What You’ll Do
Design, develop, and operationalise large-scale enterprise data solutions focused on high availability, low latency, and scalability.
Ensure all database environments are provisioned using automated and repeatable procedures.
Guide team members to build Infrastructure as Code (IaC) patterns that adhere to engineering and security standards.
Establish system-wide monitoring, alerting, and dashboards using tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana, Log Analytics, and DPA to meet published SLOs.
Drive technology transformation across existing and new data products while enforcing change, incident, and problem management processes.
Implement Lean practices across database operations to streamline workflows and eliminate waste.
Collaborate across organizational boundaries with leadership teams to support strategic enterprise technology goals.
What Experience You Need
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, a related technical field (e.g., Physics or Mathematics), or equivalent practical experience.
10–15 years of experience in database administration, system administration, performance tuning, and 24/7 operational support for traditional databases (SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, or MySQL).
Previous experience in leading technical teams of engineers.
4+ years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) analytical services (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Spanner, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, Cloud Data Fusion, Cloud Functions, or Cloud Composer).
Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Python, or Chef) and using source code repositories (GitHub).
Demonstrated experience designing and building production data pipelines from ingestion to consumption within hybrid big data architectures.
Hands-on proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) tooling and practices.
