Database Engineer

Your opportunities to work on: 

• Ensure compliance with database standards, quality, and content specifications 

• Serve as the primary contact for database release processes and cross-departmental collaboration 

• Lead key initiatives within large geographic areas, map layers, or Data Engineering services like Cloud Analytics and Data Mining 

• Advocate for product quality and timely delivery while balancing customer satisfaction 

• Maintain and expand proficiency in database processes, specifications, and quality assurance techniques 

• Manage certification processes, including validation exceptions, queries, and quarterly checks 

• Acts as primary contact person for database related questions for Technical Operations, Data Ops, Product & Release Planning and software engineering teams 

• Maintain proficiency in all facets of the processes utilized in the maintenance, enhancement and creation of HERE databases including proficiency in database specifications, quality assurance and quality control 

• Maintain the process for releasing a database (including reports, visual checks, batch processes, etc.) and is responsible for ensuring the preparation, coordination, implementation and control of the overall release of the database 

• Manage and executes database analysis projects 
• Coordinate preparation, updating and release of database release notes and pedigree 

At our core, we value talent, curiosity, and the unique skills each team member brings. While we believe in learning and growth on the job, the following qualifications are essential to be successful in this role: 

• Full professional proficiency in Arabic and English (written and spoken) 

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with a strong focus on geospatial databases, data validation, or cloud-based spatial analytics 

• Solid understanding of geospatial data systems, including experience working with GIS platforms, spatial databases, and tools such as PostGIS, ArcGIS, or QGIS 

• Familiarity with applying AI or machine learning techniques to geospatial data is a strong advantage 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with SQL, Python,FME, Startbust or similar programming languages used in spatial data processing is a plus 

• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams 

• Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, execution, and resource coordination 

• Willingness to travel as required
