Performs operational database administration and implements moderately complex database changes on 2 or more database management systems (DBMS). Designs optimizations and project-related changes for at least one DBMS. Uses common tools to monitor performance and security of multiple databases, and implements moderate to complex query and database optimizations using commands, existing tools, and custom scripts self-developed for the situation. Ensures security patches and other standards are consistently applied. Supports the high availability and consistent performance of critical database applications with assistance, as needed, from more senior engineers. Trains Associate Database Engineers.
Responsibilities:Configure and maintain database servers and processes. Monitor system's health and performance. Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability and security. (25%)
Assist Developers, Engineers, and project teams with the implementation of applications with database components (25%)
Develop, refine and automate regular processes (ETL, system jobs, scripts, etc.), track issues, and document changes. (10%)
Assist developers and project teams with query tuning, schema refinement and integration issues. (10%)
Assist in the delivery of adhoc data requests, reporting needs and data sharing needs with third party partners. (10%)
Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time. Provide suggestions for solutions. (10%)
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours. Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems. (10%)
3 to 5 Years of relevant work experience
Bachelor's Degree with Computer Science or Related field of study required.
Other Education / Certifications: Administrator level certifications related to 2 or more of MySQL, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, DB2, HANA. At least 1 additional technical certification.
