Job description:

We are seeking a highly self-motivated Senior Database Engineer V to join our dynamic IT Infrastructure Group. This role is essential to maintaining the integrity and performance of company databases while ensuring data is stored securely and optimally. The ideal candidate will assist with evaluating database software, implementing upgrades, and mentoring team members.

Job Responsibilities:

Database Management:

· Identify database requirements by analyzing department applications and operations.

· Oversee database structures, security, and backup/recovery specifications.

· Maintain database performance by optimizing parameters, monitoring usage, and implementing updates.

Performance Optimization and Security:

· Plan and execute system upgrades, vulnerability remediation, and database performance tuning.

· Monitor systems to optimize performance and initiate recovery actions post-failures.

· Ensure compliance with database security standards and participate in security audits.

Team Collaboration and Mentorship:

· Mentor junior engineers to enhance their technical expertise and experience.

· Support engineers with architecture recommendations, automation, and troubleshooting.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet deliverables in an agile environment.

Project Leadership:

· Manage projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with business goals.

· Review technical proposals from vendors and provide actionable recommendations.

Research and Development:

· Conduct research on emerging database products and services to keep systems state-of-the-art.

· Collaborate with vendors and contractors to secure optimal solutions for database needs.

On-Call Support and Training:

· Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation for critical issue resolution.

· Train IT support staff on new hardware and software implementations.

Job Qualifications:

• Required Skills:

  · 5+ years of Oracle Database Engineering and Administration experience.

  · Expertise in RMAN backup and recovery and query optimization.

  · Proficiency in monitoring and tuning databases for high availability and efficient storage.

  · Advanced knowledge of Oracle tools, MS SQL Server, and PostgreSQL.

  · Linux system administration and database environment tuning experience.

  · Familiarity with cloud providers like AWS and OCI.

  · Strong skills in SQL and data manipulation across multiple platforms.

  Preferred Skills:

  · Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science or Engineering) or equivalent experience.

  · SAP/HANA experience is beneficial.

  · Working knowledge of CTREE/Faircom DB products.
