As a Database Engineer, you will help design, support, and optimize the data systems that power critical environmental research for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS).
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that large volumes of environmental data are efficiently stored, managed, and delivered across modern cloud and hybrid environments. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology
- Or at least 4 years of relevant experience accompanied by active IT certifications
- Or at least 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree
- Experience writing efficient SQL, managing PostgreSQL databases, and handling large datasets to ensure accurate and high-performance data processing
- Proficient in Python for automating data workflows and improving data management efficiency
- Experience with CI/CD practices, including automating database provisioning and using GitLab or GitHub for version control and deployment workflows
- Comfortable using AWS services such as EC2, S3, and RDS to deploy, manage, and scale cloud-based applications and databases
- AWS and ArcGIS certifications demonstrating expertise in cloud and geospatial technologies

Skills Required
