Who you are:
As an Engineer III - Database , you are our troubleshooter. You are responsible for administering, controlling, and optimizing the organization's database management systems such as Oracle, DB2, Microsoft SQL, and Postgres databases and for providing support to those who consume them. You’ll use your strong problem-solving skills to ensure that the systems are performing optimally and meet our high standards. You believe in effective communication and will have the opportunity to address potential problems and solutions to complex issues. What you’ll do:
Provide comprehensive day-to-day management of multiple database environments that impact enterprise-wide processes
Troubleshoot and resolve database issues promptly to minimize downtime and impact on business operations
Design, implement, and tune schema changes for both commercially licensed and in-house databases to meet evolving business requirements
Create and maintain detailed documentation for database environments in accordance with bank policies and industry best practices
Provide expert database design guidance and support to business users, ensuring that database structures meet their needs and performance expectations
Provide guidance and support to fellow Database Administrators, helping them troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues
Always take action using Integrity, Caring, and Excellence to achieve all-win outcomes
What you’ll need:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; or equivalent relevant experience
Knowledge in independently diagnosing and resolving intricate issues across interconnected programs and systems, ability to implement effective, innovative solutions, typically requiring a minimum of 4+ years of experience
Ability to mentor junior engineers, guiding their professional development
Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, stakeholders, and management
Ability to think creatively and innovate to solve complex engineering problems and improve processes or products
Relevant certifications, such as Oracle Professional/Master, DataStax Administrator, EnterpriseDB Postgres
Advanced level scripting or automation skills, such as Ansible, Powershell, Terraform, Bash, Python, PHP, HTML, CSS, Java/Javascript
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced experience in Microsoft Office applications
Additional Preferred Skills:
A master’s degree in a related field
