Database Engineer (352), New York (hybrid)

THE ROLE 

We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer with AWS experience to join our newly created Service Consultant Sub-Practice and exclusively work with a mature and impactful long-term client in the financial services industry. This role requires a balance of independent work and teamwork, focusing on advancing the client's agenda. The ideal candidate will possess some understanding of the financial services sector, coupled with a proven track record of independent work and team collaboration. What you’ll do:

• Assist in migrating on-prem databases (Oracle and SQL Server) to AWS 
• Develop and maintain IaC using Terraform and Gitlab 
• Assist in upgrading Oracle database 
• Assist in diagnosing and remediating problems including performance issues in Oracle Databases 
• Monitor and tune database environments to ensure optimum performance and maximization of available resources. 
• Coding experience with Python (including PySpark) 
• Assist in tuning complex business analytical queries 
• Collaborate with the application developers, architects and project team on physical database design and implementations 
• Provide assistance with the investigations and resolution of complex infrastructure technical issues 
• Prepare high quality documentation of design/architecture/database infrastructure documents 
• Assist in ad hoc projects, assignments and responsibilities as necessary 

Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field or at least 7+ years relevant work experience as Database Engineer with focus in IaC, AWS and Oracle (on-prem)
• Solid understanding and experience IaC using Terraform and Gitlab
• Solid understanding and experience Oracle performance Tuning
• Good understanding and experience in AWS data stores such as DocumentDB, Postgres, MySql (Aurora)
• Good Understanding of Oracle Goldengate
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline
• Effective verbal and written skills, including good presentation skills

Nice To Have:

• Experience in agile methodologies 
• Experience in Databricks
