Support developers and DBAs, contribute to data modelling, retention policies, and production incident resolution while improving database development standards.
Summary Generated by Built In

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Database Developer with strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL to join our Sportsbook and Platform teams. The role will focus on designing, developing, and optimising database solutions that support high-volume, business-critical systems. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of SQL Server performance, scalability, and reliability, and is able to act as a bridge between Development and DBA teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain efficient T-SQL code, including stored procedures, functions, triggers, and database scripts.
  • Work on database design and data modelling activities, including the design and maintenance of high-throughput stored procedures for critical system operations, ensuring that solutions are scalable, maintainable, aligned with business requirements, and that database logic is implemented in the most appropriate and performant way.
  • Analyse, troubleshoot, and optimise complex queries, execution plans, indexes, and database objects to improve performance, reduce bottlenecks, and actively contribute to the investigation and resolution of production incidents related to database behaviour, performance, or data integrity.
  • Support Developers in writing efficient SQL queries and reviewing database-related changes before they reach production
  • Support second-level support team in the analysis and resolution of escalated operational requests that require database or code-level understanding, providing guidance on data checks, safe database operations, and issue assessment
  • Provide technical guidance on when logic should remain within SQL Server, particularly for high-volume or performance-sensitive operations, rather than being moved into application code.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of database development standards, best practices, and review processes.
  • Define and contribute to data retention policies, ensuring that data lifecycle, storage, archiving, and deletion strategies are aligned with business, technical, performance, and compliance requirements.
  • Act as a technical bridge between development and database administration, helping ensure that application needs and database operational requirements are properly aligned.

Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in database development, with strong hands-on experience using Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
  • Working knowledge of .NET applications and data access patterns, including experience with
  • Dapper or similar lightweight ORM/micro-ORM frameworks, to effectively support Developers and optimise interactions between application code and SQL Server.
  • Advanced knowledge of stored procedures, functions, triggers, views, indexes, transactions, and query optimisation.
  • Strong experience analysing execution plans and identifying performance bottlenecks in complex or high-volume systems.
  • Solid understanding of indexing strategies, locking, blocking, deadlocks, isolation levels, and transactional consistency.
  • Proven ability to design and optimise database solutions for performance, scalability, and reliability under heavy load.
  • Strong understanding of database design principles, data modelling, normalisation, and relational database architecture.
  • Experience supporting production systems and troubleshooting performance or stability issues in business-critical environments.
  • Good understanding of DBA-related activities such as monitoring, backups, maintenance plans, SQL Server Agent jobs, security, and availability considerations.
  • Ability to work closely with Developers and DBAs, translating application requirements into efficient and sustainable database solutions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical risks and recommendations clearly.
  • Previous experience in the iGaming industry would be considered as a plus.

Benefits
  • Private health insurance;
  • Bi-Monthly company wide social and team building activities;
  • Hybrid & Remote work arrangements;
  • Flexible working hours;
  • Daily paid meal;
  • Wellbeing day;
  • Training and Development opportunities.
