What you’ll do
-
Work with Product and Engineering teams to understand requirements and design scalable and highly available cloud solutions for data.

Identify and implement opportunities to optimize SQL queries, data storage and processing pipelines in cloud
-
Ensure high availability of databases, ensuring smooth database upgrades with none to minimal downtime.

Participate in troubleshooting and resolution of database production incidents as part of on-call activities as needed.

Monitor databases for performance bottlenecks, and implement necessary changes to resolve the performance bottlenecks.

Work on Infrastructure automation projects.

Define maintenance windows and implement disaster recovery when needed.

Enable/Integrate monitoring, auditing, and alert systems for databases with existing monitoring infrastructure to enhance observability of database systems.

Participate in change, problem management and emergency response.

Responsible for system performance and reliability.

Self-Driven, flexible and willing to learn in adjacent areas with the initiative to learn more
What experience you need
-
Bachelors or Master Degree in computer science or relevant stream.
-
4+ years experience as a DB engineer managing RDBMS or Big-data solutions.

Solid SQL experience, authoring complex queries
-
Good understanding of Indexing, DB upgrades, restore and replication etc.

Experience in working on either relational or non-relational databases (NoSQL, etc) or Big-data systems is a must
-
Strong technical knowledge on use of Data related services in Google Cloud like Cloud SQL, Bigtable, BigQuery etc
-
Google cloud and automation knowledge is a plus.

Demonstrated ability to solve problems quickly and completely.

Data Engineering experience is highly desirable.

Experience with Infrastructure automation with Terraform is a plus.
