We are looking for a Database Administrator to maintain, secure, and optimize database systems to ensure reliable access, data integrity, performance, and high availability for business operations. This position will be a full-time contract and onsite in Trenton, NJ
What You’ll Do
Install, configure, and maintain Oracle and MS SQL Server database systems
Monitor database performance and optimize queries, indexing, and storage
Collaborate with developers, analysts, and IT teams to design and enhance database solutions
Participate in the design and development of database systems and data models
Provide on-call support for critical systems as required
Implement systems in accordance with established design standards
Support ETL processing and data warehousing initiatives
Administer databases following organizational security and data integrity policies
Manage database security, including roles, permissions, and encryption
Develop and maintain backup and recovery strategies
Ensure high availability through clustering, replication, and failover solutions
Troubleshoot database issues and provide timely resolution
Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations
Maintain documentation for database architecture, configurations, and processes
Continuously enhance technical skills through training and professional development
Establish and maintain professional working relationships with internal teams, vendors, and external stakeholders
What You'll Need
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator or in a related role
Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Oracle and MS SQL Server
Experience monitoring database performance and optimizing queries, indexing, and storage
Experience supporting databases across Linux, UNIX, and Windows environments
Experience with high availability, replication, and backup/recovery strategies
Strong SQL skills, including query writing and stored procedures
Knowledge of database best practices and performance tuning
Familiarity with computer security standards and data integrity processes
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Preferred:
DBA certification
Experience with scripting
Experience working with ETL tools, including Informatica
Experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with applicable standards
Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods with occasional movement for meetings or collaboration
Ability to perform repetitive tasks using a computer, including use of a keyboard and monitor

$70 - $80 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
