Your Role as a Database Administrator II:   

This Database Administrator II role manages and administers all aspects of corporate databases and database platforms, including installation, configuration, maintenance, security, performance, ETL, and other support roles. The expectations are that this individual is comfortable supporting a variety of database platform configurations or versions but at least some level of expert competence working with any one of the following – Microsoft SQL Server, MySql, PostgreSQL, NoSQL.

A Day in the Life of a Database Administrator II:  

Working closely with application development, reporting, security, data, and DevOps teams, this individual ensures database reliability, availability, and scalability while driving performance improvements and implementing best practices for data management, automation, and security. The successful candidate is a proactive problem solver who leverages performance metrics and operational insights to identify optimization opportunities and support critical business systems.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Management and administration of SQL Server database platforms
  • Management and administration of PostgreSQL database platforms
  • Management and administration of MySQL database platforms
  • Manage SQL Server backups and data archiving
  • Manage PostgreSQL backups and data archiving
  • Provide database support and expertise to report writing, business systems, software development, and other IT functions
  • Monitor job execution and server performance, and troubleshoot issues when they occur
  • Facilitate database system access to third-party resources when applicable
  • Work with other data, security and DevOps teams to implement and maintain source code, pipelines, and security best practices
  • Proactively identify optimization opportunities using query performance metrics or other environment bottlenecks.

What You'll Need:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, managing backups, snapshots, and data archival
  • Management of security and separate environments for development, staging, and production.
  • Works with ETL tools, SSIS packages or modern cloud data pipelines, writing and troubleshooting SQL scripts
  • Create and maintain indexes, troubleshoot & monitor job execution and system performance issues
  • RedGate SQL Toolbelt and SQL Clone or other equivalent query & database admin tools
  • SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Tableau or other BI and reporting platform development
  • Authoring and troubleshooting SQL statements and other DDL schema
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills for working with both business and technical teams
  • Strong experience with Amazon Web Services Relational Database Service (RDS) platforms

Nice to Have:

  • Cloud certifications or equivalent experience with AWS, GCP, and/or Azure
  • Certifications: PostgreSQL, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) Database, Percona Server for MySQL or other equivalent certification
  • 3-5 years of experience with creating, utilizing, and maintaining DevOps pipelines is strongly preferred.
  • Familiar with enterprise logging framework best practices
  • Possess know-how of DevOps practices, like version control systems (e.g., Git) for code deployment in a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Previous experience with platforms such as Docker, Bitbucket, GitHub, Terraform, Ansible, Azure DevOps, etc.
  • Experience with MDM solutions, Melissa Data address standardization, D&B enrichment, or other data quality, match, merge, & enrich tools.
  • Experience with other RDBMS, warehouse, or lakehouse database patterns or platforms such as Oracle, RedShift, No SQL etc.

Pay Transparency:  

$130,000.00 to $145,000.00 Annually

The base salary or hourly range listed above represents the good faith estimate of the compensation Fusable reasonably expects to pay for this position upon hire. Actual compensation packages are individualized and determined by various factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s geographic location, relevant experience, internal equity, certifications, education, qualifications, specific skill set, and Fusable’s business needs. Additional compensation may include bonuses and equity.
