We are seeking a Database Administrator to support critical Defence systems within a high-performing DevSecOps environment.
The Opportunity
In this role, you will provide production support for database platforms while also contributing to the build and delivery of new database systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability across enterprise environments.
You’ll work closely with stakeholders to diagnose issues, implement solutions, and continuously improve platform performance in a secure and mission-critical setting.
Candidates must be Australian Citizens with minimum NV1 security clearance and must be able to obtain NV2 security clearance. This role requires obtaining and maintaining NV2 clearance.
This is a permanent full-time role predominantly based on-site.
Location: Sydney / Canberra / Melbourne / Brisbane

What You’ll Do
Global Networks & Technology - Network & Infrastructure Engineering designs and delivers Telstra's network and infrastructure solutions, ensuring they're reliable, scalable, and secure.
Key Responsibilities
Provide technical support and optimisation for production database environments
Build, integrate, and support new database systems and applications
Perform testing, validation, and acceptance activities for database solutions
Contribute to DevSecOps delivery practices and ITSM processes
Support high availability and disaster recovery configurations
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure system reliability
Maintain and improve technical documentation and processes
Share knowledge and contribute to continuous improvement across the team
About You
You’re a problem-solver who thrives in complex environments and enjoys working on mission-critical systems. You bring strong analytical capability and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key skills & experience
Strong experience in Database Administration across enterprise environments
Hands-on with one or more: DB2, Oracle, MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB
Experience in high availability and disaster recovery technologies
Exposure to system administration and production support
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience working in DevSecOps / ITSM environments
