We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience managing diverse database environments, including MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) 2019 and above. This role requires a professional who can balance strategic initiatives, operational maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance optimization while ensuring data security and system availability.
The DBA will collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization to plan, design, and maintain scalable and stable database systems that meet business and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning & Design
· Develop database strategies to improve scalability, stability, and accommodate growth.
· Support efforts to integrate databases with business applications and cloud environments.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design systems that meet business requirements.
2. Project Management
· Lead or participate in database-related projects, including cloud migrations, end-of-life (EOL) upgrades, and cost optimization initiatives.
· Ensure compliance with audits such as SOC and other regulatory requirements.
· Manage timelines and resources effectively for project delivery.
3. Database Administration
· Oversee database backups, restores, maintenance, and patching processes.
· Manage server resources, sizing, and system updates.
· Perform new database builds, deployments, and refreshes.
· Address routine ticket requests related to database operations.
4. Operations & Monitoring
· Monitor and support database systems, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
· Implement dashboards and alerting systems to proactively identify and address system issues.
· Respond promptly to system events and incidents.
5. Troubleshooting
· Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including ticket-based requests and production incidents.
· Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for system events and recommend improvements.
6. Performance Optimization
· Analyze and address performance issues in database systems or queries.
· Review and tune T-SQL and other database query languages.
· Collaborate with application and QA teams to enhance system scalability and performance.
7. Data Work
· Perform schema and data modifications, including DML/DDL operations.
· Handle table schema alterations, index management, and data migration tasks.
· Ensure schema integrity and perform online operations efficiently.
8. Data Reporting & Exchange
· Fulfil RFI and data extraction requests from internal and external stakeholders.
· Support SSRS, SSIS, and other data reporting tools and data exchange processes.
Requirements:
Technical Skills
· Proven experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL 2019 or later.
· Strong knowledge of database backup and restore strategies, security best practices, and performance tuning.
· Proficiency in database query languages, including T-SQL, PL/pgSQL, and MongoDB query language.
· Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions and data replication techniques.
· Experience with monitoring tools and alert systems for database environments.
Soft Skills
· Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
· Strong communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
· Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and responsibilities.
Education & Certification
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· Relevant certifications (e.g., MongoDB Certified DBA, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer, etc.) are a plus.
