Database Administrator (DBA) – Oracle on AWS RDS
Your Impact as Database Administrator (DBA): What are you going to do
The Database Administrator will be responsible for the administration, performance, security, and availability of Oracle databases hosted on AWS RDS. The role will combine strong Oracle DBA expertise with cloud, automation, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
This role is important to support critical business platforms, cloud modernization, infrastructure automation, and secure database operations in a regulated environment.
Key responsibilities include:
Administer, monitor, and maintain Oracle databases hosted on AWS RDS, ensuring high availability, optimal performance, and data integrity.
Manage database provisioning, patching, backups, restores, and disaster recovery procedures within the AWS environment.
Configure and manage database connectivity and network access controls, including VPCs, subnets, and security groups.
Provision and maintain database infrastructure using Terraform, following infrastructure-as-code best practices.
Monitor database performance, conduct query and instance tuning, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
Implement and enforce database security best practices, including encryption, access management, and audit logging.
Maintain accurate documentation of database architecture, configurations, standards, and operational procedures.
Support production incidents and participate in the relevant support model when required.
Collaborate with development, security, cloud, and infrastructure teams to support business and technical initiatives.
Partner with DevOps and platform engineering teams to support database connectivity for applications running on Kubernetes

Who You Are:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proven experience as an Oracle Database Administrator, including administration, configuration, performance tuning, backup, restore, and recovery.
Hands-on experience managing Oracle databases on AWS RDS.
Good knowledge of AWS networking components, including VPCs, subnets, routing, and security groups.
Practical experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
Working knowledge of Kubernetes from an application-to-database connectivity perspective.
Strong understanding of database security principles, including encryption at rest and in transit, identity and access management, least-privilege access, and audit logging.
Experience working in regulated environments, preferably financial services or insurance.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Clear communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting mission-critical platforms in financial services or insurance.
Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Amazon CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Dynatrace, or similar.
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.
Oracle certification, such as Oracle Certified Professional.
AWS certification, such as AWS Certified Database or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
Experience with additional AWS-managed database services, such as Amazon Aurora or PostgreSQL on RDS.
