About the Role
We are looking for a Database Administrator I with 1–3 years of experience to help run, secure, and improve our database platforms. You will support the performance, availability, integrity, and security of our data layer across MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB environments.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys day-to-day database operations, incident troubleshooting, and working closely with developers and infra teams to keep production systems stable. You will operate in both cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure) and on-prem environments, and contribute to automation, monitoring, and change management using tools like Terraform, Python, and Bash.
Key responsibilities
Database operations & administrationSupport cloud and on-prem database infrastructure across AWS
Execute database changes through approved processes, including Terraform-based infrastructure updates
Maintain database documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures
Monitoring, performance & reliability
Monitor database health, availability, replication lag, connections, storage, and resource utilization
Investigate performance issues and support query tuning, indexing, and basic optimization
Participate in incident response and root-cause analysis for database-related issues
Help maintain high availability and minimize downtime during planned and unplanned events
Backup, recovery & business continuity
Perform and validate routine backups, restores, and retention checks
Support disaster recovery (DR) testing and recovery procedures
Assist with failover, restore, and recovery activities during incidents
Security & access management
Manage database users, roles, privileges, and access controls
Follow security best practices for credential handling, least-privilege access, and audit requirements
Support compliance and data protection standards across database platforms
Automation & platform engineering
Automate repetitive database tasks using Python and/or Bash
Improve operational efficiency for provisioning, monitoring, patching, and maintenance workflows
Contribute to infrastructure-as-code practices for database change management
Collaboration & support
Partner with developers on schema design, migrations, query reviews, and deployment support
Communicate clearly during incidents, maintenance windows, and change activities
Required
1–3 years of experience in a Database Administrator or database-focused operations role
Hands-on experience administering MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
Hands-on experience with MongoDB
Working knowledge of Linux/Unix, shell/python scripting, and basic networking concepts
Experience with database monitoring, backup/recovery, and troubleshooting
Ability to diagnose and resolve basic to intermediate database issues independently
Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail
Good communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team
Skills Required
