SUMMARY
The Product and Trend Analyst is responsible for the research, analysis, development, and communication of trends that will impact merchandise assortments for the entire JOANN organization. They will work directly with the Manager of Trend to develop global trend themes and art each season as well as category specific trends as needed. This position seeks out trends in the market, identifies new trend opportunities, and creates visually impactful reports for multiple product categories including craft, sewing, and seasonal/home decor. The Product and Trend Analyst is able to offer forward-looking visibility to incoming trends and product offerings. The Product and Trend Analysts also aids in the design and development of products when necessary. The skill set required includes the ability to assess the retail market, interpret trend service reports for the JOANN customer, creative problem solving, expert color eye, and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. Working knowledge of materials, textiles, print/pattern, and font types is preferred. The position also requires collaboration with cross-functional partners and ability to travel domestically and internationally. The Product and Trend Analyst directly or indirectly impacts every merchandising category at JOANN. Global Trend themes, Global Color, and category specific trends are key strategic initial steps taken on the Merchandise Life Cycle. Category Merchandising Team members use the trend intelligence presented to formulate their assortment strategies. Trend intelligence gives thoughtful research and insight into materials, color, shapes, and key item trends that should be applied to the product assortments.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
- Conducts research for trend direction: Researches and analyzes market shifts and trend/color services and, in collaboration with the Trend Manager, creates. 60%
- Works closely with Trend Manager and Product Development team to incorporate appropriate trend across categories. 20%
- Consults and aids product design and development. 10%
- Shops inspirational stores, cities, and attends industry trade shows. Creates recap reports offering market intelligence and distributes them to cross-functional team members. 10%

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Education Minimum: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree in Graphic/Illustration Design, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or Industrial Design
Experience Minimum: 3-5 years Trend forecasting experience
Experience Preferred: 2+ years experience with Home Decor, Seasonal Decor, Surface Design, Textiles, Table Top/Entertaining, Product design
