About the role:
Partners with stakeholders and leads team efforts to build and maintain backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.
About the Team:
The Uber Metadata team powers data discovery, data quality and data governance for all of Uber.
With over 100K datasets and billions of Kafka topics, we build services and algorithms for data lineage, data categorisation, business definitions, regulatory compliance. It is a challenging task for our all-star team of distributed systems engineers, ML engineers, and full stack engineers.
We are the owners of Uber's legendary Databook, a tool and metadata platform that thousands of Uber employees, from Data Scientists to Business Executives, use every day. Our users constantly rate Databook, one of the best internal systems at Uber.
WIth Uber's growth and recent strategic business acquisitions, the impact of our core Metadata team on Uber's business is more crucial than ever. Come and help us grow and build better algorithms and services for Metadata automated categorisation, discovery, quality, compliance.
Minimum qualifications:
• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience• 4+ years of experience developing and shipping code for production systems• Solid understanding of a high level programming language such as Go, Java, C, Python, Scala or C++• Strong algorithms and CS skills
Technical skills:
• Experience with Big Data and Hadoop ecosystem• Deep understanding of backend and database, mono-repo, and microservice architectures• Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams
