Our next-generation sequencing (NGS) products allow clinicians and laboratory professionals to read and interpret DNA, providing necessary genetic information to enable personalized medicine. The Clinical Next-Generation Sequencing division (CSD), part of Thermo Fisher's Genetic Sciences Group (GSG), offers multiple solutions across cancer, infectious diseases, and reproductive health testing. This role puts you in the middle of transforming how genetic information can be used to save lives and discover scientific breakthroughs. The successful candidate will have a strong mix of strategic thinking, analytical rigor and excellent communication skills.

What will you do?
As the Senior Manager of Strategy and Market Intelligence your primary goal would be to gather, integrate, and synthesize market intelligence data into actionable recommendations and strategic insights that would inform CSD's business strategy.

You would provide analytical and qualitative support in the annual Strategic Business Planning process (e.g. market share, size and growth rates, segment and geographic growth drivers/inhibitors) and contribute to the identification and creation of business plans for other key strategic areas of the business through your astute use of market and competitive intelligence methodologies.

In addition to your main role of strategic planning, you would inform marketing efforts, support product portfolio strategy, and be assessing the commercial potential of product in/out-licensing partnerships, research collaborations, and potential mergers and acquisitions targets. This position will have primary responsibility for assembling, updating, and applying the market intelligence data that will support CSD business development and strategy development activities.

Key Responsibilities:• Evaluate the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) market landscape, monitor changes, and predict trends in market dynamics and competition• Assess the key strategic challenges and opportunities facing the division, lead the insight generation process for determining the impact of these on the division, and deliver recommendations to CSD leadership on best course of action in response• Lead ad hoc strategic projects e.g. acquisition scenarios, strategy workshops• Utilizes spreadsheets and database applications to expand and integrate market sizing models with product and technology roadmaps integrating both public and private information sources• Provides an objective market viewpoint based on an in-depth understanding and analysis of customer and market information.• As the market expert, you develop and articulate presentations, reports, and workshops for the leadership team on impactful market and competitive events • Establishes processes and effective working relationships with the Commercial Organizations to gain competitive and market insights• Leads Market Research projects that deliver compelling insights and recommendations to drive superior business decisions and performance• Drives market segmentation projects, based on superior market and customer insight, in support of the strategic planning and marketing organizations• Leads the compilation of an annual market compendium, describing the current and forecasted state of the market across segments and regions• Scouts and provides regular, actionable market intelligence on competitive offerings, CRO's, Cancer Centers, Diagnostic labs, and other strategic partners to enable further market adoption of NGS

How will you get here?
Education• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Life Sciences or other related field is required• Master's degree in Business Administration preferred

Experience• 7 years in strategic marketing or in a commercial role• 5 years Diagnostic or Pharmaceutical industry experience• 3 years Market research and/or competitive Intelligence• Solid experience in financial modeling• Prior experience working with global teams and international stakeholders in a matrix organization

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Significant market research, forecasting, and financial modeling experience in clinical diagnostics and/or NGS markets• Prior experience in market/revenue and P&L modeling is required• Prior experience conducting, analyzing, and communicating qualitative and quantitative market research and VOC• Experienced with common forecasting and market research data sources, secondary research, analyst, and company reports, and can conduct primary market research when needed• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required. Ability to work as part of team environment and individually• Strong ability to simply and quickly communicate complexities of forecast and key commercial issues associated with a product opportunity• Group and/or project leadership (history of interaction with cross-functional partners and consensus-driving); Demonstrated independence to plan, prioritize, and execute on multiple projects simultaneously, with tight deadlines and changing priorities• Experience in genetic sequencing, diagnostics, Pharmaceuticals is desirable
