What's the role?
We are looking for a Senior Data Mgmt Specialist focused on Data Product Management to join our Data Management & Governance team. Our team establishes, implements and oversees the roles, processes and technologies to own the company's data assets. The role will sit on the product team and requires a dynamic agile attitude, patience and persistence to solve complex business problems!
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Data Management and Governance Expertise : Demonstrate working knowledge of core data management capabilities including data quality, metadata management, data stewardship/governance and data security. Contribute to data governance strategy and roadmap development.
  • Current State, Future State and Gap Analysis: Demonstrate ability to independently assess and document current state across multiple processes, business areas, and domains, while helping business leaders document new processes. Ability to think strategically and put together "target state" solutions.
  • Product Backlog and Requirements Analysis: Manage the product backlog and feature development. Work with business users to define requirements that lead to the authoring of complex features with complete user stories and detailed acceptance criteria. Define and document business use cases and user stories.
  • Feature Prioritization: Develop and maintain a prioritized backlog of features for implementation according to business value or return on investment. Partner with the product team to prioritize and respond to business change.
  • Work Intake: Build a formal work intake process for the Data Management & Governance organization. Partner with multiple scrum teams to assess and feed the work into the product backlog. Be the point person for external customers who want data management services or consultation.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience with at least 4 working in a Product Owner/Manager or Business Analyst role
  • Experience working with and on agile teams. SAFe experience is desired.
  • Must have demonstrated cross functional work in previous experience along with strong communication skills, project management skills, documentation skills, business acumen and high self-awareness/EQ.
  • Demonstrated previous influence skills, leadership exposure, ability to translate product requirements into technical requirements, and work in ambiguity and solutioning.
  • Can solve complex problems; take a new perspective on existing solutions; exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian JIRA/JIRA Align.
  • Preferred: knowledge of the financial services industry, familiar with data management concepts and capabilities (DMBoK), formal certification in a BA, PO, PM or Scrum Master role is a plus
