Job Summary:

Partners with stakeholders to create data engineering and analytics solutions. Designs and prepares reports, dashboards, and summaries for statistical analysis and planning purposes. Analyzes business issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers. Identifies and interprets trends and patterns.

Location:

Preferred location is Phoenix, AZ with ability to come into the office twice per week.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high quality data and analytics solutions.
  • Work closely with source data teams and business SMEs to design, implement and leverage analytics solutions that provide insights to enable better data-based decision making.
  • Implement data engineering solutions using cloud based (Azure) products and services: (Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL, Azure Machine Learning, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, PowerBI, Spark SQL, Python, etc.) and traditional data warehouse tools.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data from various databases and performs statistical analysis for internal customer groups.
  • Communicates complex data in comprehensible ways. Evaluates information from multiple sources and clearly indicates quality of final analysis.
  • Develops reports, dashboards and other tools to deliver internal company information enabling business users to make informed decisions.
  • Gathers, aggregates models, and analyzes information from multiple external sources regarding company financial performance, customer insights, competitor profiling, competitive threats, potential product or technical expansion, industry trends and other such business intelligence aspects.
  • Establishes standards and procedures for a variety of processes, conducting business analysis resulting in detailed creation and maintenance of business process mapping, requirements and training materials documentation.
  • May participate in or lead project teams.
  • Identifies, investigates and participates in opportunities to improve processes and procedures, to include various key performance metrics.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Mastery knowledge of industry best practices and disciplines. Considered a subject matter expert within the organization and contributes to the development of new concepts, techniques and standards.
  • Develops solutions to highly complex and uniquely challenging situations. Assignments require extensive evaluation of alternatives and variables. Expected to make improvements to policies and procedures.
  • Works independently toward long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated using independent judgment and discretion. May act as informal team lead and/or coach less experienced team members.
  • Serves as consultant to management and/or internal/external spokesperson for the organization on major initiatives related to policies, plans and long-range objectives.
  • Actions may impact the organization and its reputation. Effects of erroneous decisions may be long-lasting, influence the future course of the organization and/or require the expenditure of extensive additional resources.


Work Experience:

  • Typically 8+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.
  • 5+ years data analytics experience


Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
  • Expertise with the Azure Technology stack for data management, data ingestion, capture, processing, curation and creating consumption layers.


Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • Position may require the ability to travel.
  • Work location is flexible if approved by Avnet, except, role may not be performed remotely from Colorado.
