What you'll be doing

The Tableau CSG Transformation and Strategy team (T&S) is a newly mobilized global team with a goal to design and incubate forward-thinking and progressive solutions and teams across CSG. Within the CSG Transformation and Strategy team, we are launching a new team "Strategic Customer Products Partner Engagement (SCPPE)". The goal of the SCPPE motion is to increase Tableau and Salesforce customer adoption, prevent customer attrition, enable services opportunities, and drive future expansion opportunities.

This team will be composed of post-sales subject matter professionals who develop deep relationships and provide tailored guidance for our strategic and most valuable customers to accelerate the value of their Tableau and Salesforce investment. This team will galvanize time-bound strategic engagements to assess customer's problem statement, scope the work and deliver a comprehensive report with pointed assessments and recommendations to help customers implement from end to end. For a successful engagement, this team will work collaboratively with the wider CSG team and work alongside Sales, Product and Engineering.

The Solutions Consulting, Director, is a highly specialized architect/consultant. They will be the Tableau Core and Tableau CRM product authority on the team to tackle complicated problems for Tableau's most strategic and valuable customers. A key aspect of the Director, Solutions Consulting role at Tableau is nurturing customers to develop a culture of self-service analytics using data visualization methodologies. This role requires a highly skilled candidate in Tableau-adjacent technologies that help Tableau integrate complex customer deployment. The SA will work on time bound, non-billable engagements to deliver valuable assessments and tailored guidance to our customers.

You will be a customer advocate and take full ownership of delivering value through the engagement by providing technical & analytical expertise on visual analytics and direction on Business Intelligence best practices. You will play the key role of providing feedback to the Sales and Services teams about future opportunities and influence product direction by mediating customer requirements from the field to our Product Management and Engineering teams.

Some of the things you'll be doing include

  • Developing expertise in the features, benefits and application of Tableau's products - Deep understanding of our Desktop/frontend product(s) and it's integration into client solutions, and an intermediate level understanding of our Server product(s)
  • Be an authority in Tableau APIs and how to use them to provide solutions to customer issues.
  • Participate in the SCPPE team triage process to help scope and size the effort before assignment to a team member.
  • Conduct discovery exercises and deep customer analysis and data reviews.
  • Develop detailed assessments and recommendations for customer implementations.
  • Communicate via multiple platforms and web meetings with customers, assisting and guiding them on the findings, potential opportunities and solution paths.
  • Provide guidance to customers on how to build a One Analytics strategy, governance models, security considerations and a synchronized deployment setup between Tableau Core and Tableau CRM products.
  • Own the customer readout session and ensure a seamless hand-off to the account executives and customer success managers.
  • Create Post-Engagement Summaries and document final proposed solutions for customers.
  • Include Professional Services with technical guidance and details during engagements where potential services opportunities are required for implementation.
  • Serve as a mentor to other consultants and architects.
  • Travel might be required post pandemic to customer sites as needed.


Who you are

  • Experienced. Highly skilled in consulting or Pre-sales or Professional Services Delivery roles in related industries. Extensive experience in Tableau and/or Tableau adjacent technologies (especially Server technologies). Data Architecture and Data Engineering Salesforce implementation experience. Enterprise application integration experience.
  • Data Influencer. Knowledgeable in databases, warehouses and BI/Visualization Solutions - i.e. Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, Cognos, Business Objects. Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server Experience recommended.
  • Visualization Specialist. You have a love of creative visualizations that help customers see and understand their data.
  • Customer-Centric. Experience owning customer engagements and providing clear directives. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage expectations and customer demands.
  • Problem Solver. You love taking on the most difficult of challenges and know how to get to the best solution. You partner with customers to drive business change and implement end to end solutions as a trusted technical advisor.
  • Conviction and Commitment. You have an unshakable belief that Tableau's products will improve the world - one person at a time. Once you get it, you go all the way.
  • Go-Getter. Willing to go above and beyond with a enthusiastic work ethic; self-directed and resourceful.
  • Strong Communicator. Ability to translate knowledge across diverse industries and situations and present proposals and solutions to business users of all levels. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Energetic and Creative. Energy and passion are your hallmarks. You think out-of-the-box and wow people with your unconventional angles and quality work.
  • Highly Technical. You have deep technical skills across various technologies. Understanding of data querying and ability to read SQL statements; programming languages desired - Python & R preferred but not required.
  • Analytically-minded. Strong mathematical/analytical skills. Experience in statistical Solutions desired.
