Invitae is seeking a full-time board-certified Clinical Laboratory Director to join a clinical laboratory team that is motivated by the patient on the other end of every sample tested.

What you will do:

Clinical Laboratory Director of Record

Invitae is seeking a full-time, board-certified Clinical Laboratory Director of Record to join a clinical laboratory team that is motivated by the patient on the other end of every sample tested.

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Director, whose job duties will include:

  • Ongoing involvement in overseeing laboratory processes and in review and sign out of clinical laboratory reports
  • Support the Laboratory Director’s team in ongoing responsibilities, including:
    • Evaluation and input into ongoing monitoring of testing processes including troubleshooting and quality improvement activities
    • Design and oversight of validation and test transfer into clinical testing workflow
    • Establishment and monitoring of performance criteria for clinical tests, including coordination across incident management, client communication, etc.
    • Support for audits
    • Coordination across multiple groups and clinical testing sites
    • Other duties, at the discretion of the Lead Clinical Laboratory Director
    • Represent and ensure compliance with clinical laboratory regulations and medical standards (CLIA, CAP, ACMG/CPIC, etc. as relevant given the specific test type and technical characteristics)

 Who you are:

Required:

  • ABMGG certification in Molecular Genetics, Laboratory Genetics and Genomics, or ABP certification in Molecular Pathology
  • Hold or be eligible for California Clinical Laboratory Director’s License (CGMB) or equivalent
  • Hold or be eligible for NY Certificate of Qualification (NY CoQ)
  • Ability and willingness to be on site in San Francisco at least 3 days a week

Highly desirable:

  • Strong genetics background with proficiency in clinical genomics and bioinformatics
  • Interest in clinical laboratory processes, regulatory requirements, and professional guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills to ensure collaboration across:
    • Molecular laboratory
    • Bioinformatics
    • Clinical reporting
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong experience with modern molecular techniques
