Eaton's IT Organization has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager - Data Storage Platforms role within our Integrations & Data Management vertical. This position can be based at any Eaton US facility.

Position Overview:

At Eaton we are modernizing the way we use data to accelerate our digital transformation. In this role, you will set the strategy, roadmap and implementation of the Lakehouse (Data Lake and Data Warehouse) ecosystem for the enterprise as part of the Chief Data Management office. You will lead Eaton's journey to a modern, cloud-native data architecture strategy to provide flexibility and scalability while optimizing cost for a wide variety of business outcomes. You will own platforms that support over 15,000 users with multiple petabytes of data from enterprise, commercial and IoT sources and drive a rationalization strategy to reduce technical data and increase focus on modern, reusable data patterns as well as establish the framework for a Data Mesh strategy. You will lead research into additional architecture solutions such as graph, timeseries, in-memory, and other unique solutions as part of a comprehensive portfolio. In addition, you will be responsible for a team of full stack Data Engineers that will deliver business outcomes for Eaton's Industrial business units, providing a unique opportunity for both technology product ownership as well as direct business alignment to drive outcomes such as marketing intelligence, employee analytics, and more.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute on a comprehensive enterprise data storage and processing strategy as part of the overall Eaton IT enterprise. architecture and business strategy, across a complex IT and business landscape.
  • Lead a global team of 30+ employees and contractors to deliver data platforms and solutions in a DevOps model.
  • Design, implement and operationalize data lakes, warehouses and other storage technologies aligned to Eaton's cloud-first strategy.
  • Provide a comprehensive user and developer education program to accelerate onboarding into a governed self-service data ecosystem.
  • Define operational SLAs and KPIs for data platforms and solutions including platform performance and availability.
  • Partner with business and IT teams to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, highly performant and governed in accordance with data privacy and regulatory requirements.
  • Simplify the tooling landscape to sunset legacy applications while minimizing business disruption.


Technical Knowledge:

  • Deep knowledge of data architectures including data lakes, warehouses, marts, lakehouse, graph, timeseries and in-memory solutions.
  • Specific experience in cloud-based data solutions such as Azure BLOB or ADLS and Synapse, AWS S3, EMR and Redshift, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience with the lifecycle management of enterprise-class data platforms, including large-scale data migrations.
  • Ability to lead user research to simplify and improve the development process for analytics.
  • Experience working with industrial manufacturing, automotive and aerospace industries a positive but not a must.
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing solutions to monitor and improve data availability across multiple domains.


Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution required.
  • Minimum ten (10) years in data management experience required.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States both now and in the future without company sponsorship
  • No relocation is provided for this position. Only candidates who currently reside within 50 miles of an Eaton US location will be considered.

  • Experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience identifying operational issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
  • Experience managing cross-functional and/or matrix teams.
  • Experience managing a budget to plan and delivering to meet financial goals.
  • Experience interacting at the executive level.
  • Experience managing application delivery.
  • Experience managing high-level technical delivery.
  • Experience influencing leadership and key stakeholders on technology solutions.
  • Experience applying knowledge of the new processes and concepts in IT management, structure and organization.


Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $149,600-205,700. Eligible for a performance-based incentive bonus with a target at 24% of base.
