This person would be a part of our core Data Science team, working with our ACoE (that's our Analytics Center of Excellence). It's an exciting opportunity for someone who is a proven advanced analytics developer who knows their way around analytics algorithms, tools, and technologies. It all adds up to helping deliver world class analytic software products to grateful customers.

The Sr. Data Scientist acts as our technical domain leader responsible for overseeing critical strategic initiatives, developing sophisticated predictive models, building scalable data products, and growing the overall Data Science capability at Cox. You act as an expert in a particular domain of science models and work with other data scientists to create solutions to complex business problems. You must be adept at using large data sets to find opportunities and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. You will use your proven ability to drive business results with data-based insights and be comfortable working with a wide range of boundary partners and functional teams. You will own the latest technologies in machine learning, leverage your passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets, and work directly with our business counterparts to improve business outcomes.

What You'll Do

Senior Data Scientists stay pretty busy doing incredibly cool things. Here are just some of the responsibilities you'll tackle:

  • Lead initiatives to understand, contextualize, and solve the most challenging problems in Cox's analytical portfolio
  • Understand business problems and design end to end analytics use cases. Partner with business tech leads to implement reusable and robust solutions
  • Apply strong expertise in machine-learning, data mining, and information retrieval to design, prototype and build the next generation analytics engine and services
  • Partner with data science leadership and engagement teams to present solutions and insights to business
  • Help maintain and track project goals and roadmaps. Collaborate with software and data engineers to implement and deploy scalable solutions
  • Develop complex models and algorithms that drive innovation throughout the organization This may include initiatives in understanding our Products, Operations, Footprint, Supply Chain
  • Mentor junior team members and provides constructive critique on specific projects.

Who You Are

Senior Data Scientists are a rare breed. Lots of brain power, leadership skills, and oodles (that's a technical term) of experience with a variety of software. We've put together a list of what we're looking for in our next Senior Data Scientist, from minimum requirements to some preferred qualities. We're hopeful you'll check a lot of these boxes:

  • Where permitted by applicable law, must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to be considered for this U.S. based job. (Reasonable accommodations for medical and religious objections will be considered.)
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Data Science & Machine Learning
  • An advanced understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning techniques and proficiency in one or more areas in Deep Learning, NLP, Graph Neural Nets, NLP
  • Excellent statistical skills grounded in a thorough understanding of testing and frequentist/Bayesian methodologies
  • Able to work with big-data in the cloud: Familiar with spark/sql, pyspark, SageMaker, Tensorflow, Docker, R
  • Excellent data visualization skills: able to determine the appropriate visualization and create compelling stories with data
  • Strong business acumen and judgement combined with excellent verbal and written communication that can be used to drive our strategy throughout all levels of the organization
  • Demonstrate organizational empathy while delivering results. Ability to build relationships quickly, collaborate and lead with courage will be a must.

Preferred:

  • Advanced degree (MS/PhDs) in computer science, statistics, economics, mathematics, operations research or related technical discipline highly preferred
  • Experience in Telecom, Cable, Media, or consulting domain is a plus
  • Knowledge of cloud environments such as Azure, a plus
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and continuous delivery, a plus
  • Understanding of SDLC collaboration, including experience with tools such as GIT, a plus.
