Job summary
The Red Hat Enterprise Data and Analytics (EDA) team is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will design, develop, and test solutions in the Product domain for relevant business needs in an open and collaborative environment. You'll collaborate with Red Hat's internal business stakeholders to enable data-driven decisions for managing the end-to-end life cycle of our offerings. As a Senior Data Engineer, you should be well-versed in data analysis, design, and development concepts for a large data warehouse and you should have experience supporting critical production applications.
Primary job responsibilities

  • Add new data sources to our cloud-based data warehouse using Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools and custom connectors as needed
  • Design and develop SQL-based views in our data warehouse to enable multi-sourced data analysis
  • Perform adequate unit test for applications developed and validate expected results
  • Troubleshoot reported defects to determine the root cause
  • Peer-review code created by team members
  • Convey key stakeholder insights through data storytelling
  • Create ad hoc reports and dashboards


Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience delivering data and analytics-related solutions or offerings
  • 5+ years of demonstrated frontend and Symantec layer development experience
  • Extensive knowledge of data warehousing tools, patterns, and processes
  • Advanced SQL expertise
  • Advanced knowledge of ETL tools like Informatica Cloud or Pentaho
  • Understanding of the processes of data quality, data cleansing, and data transformation
  • Ability to interpret written requirements and technical specification documents
  • Good coding skills according to published standards and design guidelines
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms like Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Knowledge of columnar databases like Amazon Redshift
  • Experience in Python coding
  • Record of building innovative solutions
  • Demonstrated understanding of analytical versus operational reporting
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and resolution, and root cause documentation
  • Experience working with Product domain is a plus
  • Experience with visualization tools like Tableau or SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) is a plus
