Senior Analyst, Global Economic Insights - Minneapolis, MN
OVERVIEW
The Economic Insights Analyst is responsible for building and managing macroeconomic and category market economic intelligence insights across General Mills' global businesses. These insights drive market related sourcing decisions, contract design and negotiation and elevate Sourcing knowledge of key markets.
This role focuses mainly on global packaging categories and is an opportunity to develop market knowledge from the best external resources, develop communication and influencing skills with global teams, and participate in GEI data and analytics initiatives that support Global Sourcing.
This position reports to the Sr. Economic Insights Manager in the Global Sourcing Center (Nyon Switzerland) and works closely with GEI team and the Sr Portfolio Manager in the World Headquarters (Minneapolis).
KEY ACCOUNTBILITIES
Economic Research and Analysis:
- Lead packaging category market analysis including fundamentals (supply/demand) and price forecasting
- Actively engage with external research providers to leverage their content, define scenarios and bring best in class market outlook to global teams
- Understand key cost drivers and how the underlying commodity dynamics influence total cost management by the Global/Regional Category Leads
- Maintain and develop the Dynamic Forecast Tool in partnership with project lead
- Contribute data, analysis, and opinion to Transportation category managers and to Macro outlook
Global Stakeholder Engagement:
- Provide effective communication of market insights to Global Packaging teams through regular and ad hoc presentations
- Partner with category teams on key projects (inflation guidance, cost models, etc)
- Partner with Should Cost Model team, contributing GEI expertise and data
- Cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Build and exhibit cross-functional influence skills across virtual and in-person teams across regions and cultures
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, or Business Administration
- Strong financial acumen: analytical, problem solving, and project management skills
- Good communication skills (presentation and writing)
- Curious with strong desire to learn
- Ability to work independently
- Intermediate Excel skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of sourcing processes
- Tableau dashboard creation experience
