Department OverviewWatchGuard Video (http://www.watchguardvideo.com) the leading provider of digital in-car video recording systems and video evidence management software for law enforcement. We are a thriving and growing company looking for a great Engineering leader to lead and grow some of our Engineering teams. This is a full time Engineer role overseeing the growth of our highly productive teams of smart and engaged engineers. Job DescriptionResponsibilities:
● Architect and manage various data models associated with Relational and No SQL database systems.
● Ensure database features and capabilities are incorporated into data model designs to optimize performance, resiliency and scalability.
● Establish standards, guidelines and quality assurance for database system deliverables, such as conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.
● Review & refine solutions for best possible performance, quality, and maintainability.
● Document and promote scalable database design.
● Code complex programs and derives logical processes on technical platforms.
● Delivering and presenting proofs of concept to of key technology components to project stakeholders and internal technology leaders
● Perform problem-solving of application issues and production errors, including high level critical production issues that require immediate attention
Requirements:
● High level of proficiency in all areas of Microsoft SQL database programming and administration.
● Very strong understanding of SQL performance and Microsoft SQL query optimization and tuning.
● Strong debugging skills required - knowledge of SQL Tracing, SQL Logging and ability to find root cause performance and stability issues.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
● Able to work with other teams including offshore teams and the Customer Support organization
● Ability to triage issues in production with the Customer and Customer support.
● Ability to evaluate software quality through the use of load testing and stress testing.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Excellent time management, ability to juggle priorities, and project follow through.
● Willingness to be in an on call rotation with other database engineers should Customer issues arise off hours.
● Ability to triage issues in production with the Customer and Customer support.
● Ability to evaluate software quality through the use of load testing and stress testing.
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Excellent time management, ability to juggle priorities, and project follow through.
● Willingness to be in an on call rotation with other database engineers should Customer issues arise off hours.
Basic RequirementsQualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or relevant engineering discipline
● 12+ years of overall technology experience that includes at least 8+ years of hands-on software development, data engineering, and systems architecture
● 6+ years of experience in SQL optimization and performance tuning
● 4+ years in cloud data engineering experience in at least one cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP)
● Fluent with Azure cloud services
Candidate may reside anywhere in the US with access to a major airport for necessary travel
