Dragos has an opportunity for a Principal Data Science Engineer to join our growing team of talented Engineers making great contributions to our mission of Safeguarding Civilization! As a Principal Data Science Engineer, you will maintain a cataloged library of PCAPs from customers representing all of our verticals, geolocations, and sizes. You will create synthetic workloads using Breaking Point or similar that map to a customer's PCAPs. You will work with our detection engineers on injecting data that triggers our analytics to ensure that we are testing with controlled data that represents our customers now and tomorrow, from their best-case scenarios to their worst-case and everything in-between.


This is a principal level position embedded in our Performance Engineering Team that will drive and impact across Development and Quality Engineering, and collaborate with our R&D and Intel teams to ensure all data used in testing is maintained and updated so we always have an up-to-date representation of our customer data, as well as an understanding of how we handle abusive data, all in a controlled and documented fashion.


Must be able to work in the US, Canada, or Australia without current or future sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Field Operations and Sales to gather network traffic profiles from customers
  • Analyze and catalog customer PCAPs to understand protocols and data flows
  • Develop customer use cases and synthetic network traffic profiles based on different customer industry verticals, geolocations, sizes, and implementations to be used in functional, E2E validation, performance testing
  • Extrapolate network data into synthetic traffic streams to be used in Performance and detection testing
  • Develop strong relationships with Field Operations, Solution Architecture, Development, and Detection Engineering teams
  • Develop and foster relationships with key customers, internal and external, and work together to gather meaningful and mutually beneficial data for analysis
  • Assist in test strategy development to ensure we are continually meeting customer needs and current/ planned use cases

Requirements

  • 8+ years experience in network traffic analysis and data science
  • Strong experience in network traffic and protocol analysis using tools such as Wireshark
  • Strong technical writing skills to articulate customer environments, network traffic profiles, and use cases
  • Experience working with Agile/SAFe methodologies
  • Strong knowledge of networking, TCP/IP, Linux, UNIX, Routers, Switches, and security domains (Firewall, IPS, IDS)
  • Experience in automation framework with Python, Pytest, or similar
  • Designing, building, and maintaining test environments (Both automated and manual testing)
  • Design and Implement test cases for systems with REST APIs
  • Experience with Continuous Integration tools such as Jenkins, Bitbucket

Compensation

  • Base Salary: $228,000
  • Base + Benefits + Equity = $385,000

  • Equity at Dragos is quickly growing and the total compensation under-represents the future growth and refresh program. This will be discussed on the first call with the Dragos recruiter.
