About the team
The GTO Database team at FIS provides production and client support for multiple on-line and banking applications. We are looking for talented PostgreSQL DBA resource to be a part of this dynamic team that willgrow with the growth of the solution.
What you will be doing

  • Meets commitments and provides excellent customer service at all times with internal and external clients.
  • Provides status reports (written and/or verbal) that are detailed to tasks and difficulties encountered - enables managers to initiate escalation if necessary and assess areas where changes or additional support may be warranted.
  • Ensures issues resulting in customer outage is escalated appropriately through GTO management.
  • Provide day to day support for development team/developers
  • Provide DBA on-call support
  • Assists application groups with design development that meet current and future business requirements:
  • Participates in logical design process with the Application Development team for additional requirements in the design to insure optimal database architecture and infrastructure are put in place for assurance of high availability, recoverability and responsible for the physical design/implementation.
  • Provides specific direction on infrastructure design to support applications.
  • Participates as a member of development support team on projects.
  • Follows and meets project timelines and deadlines.


What you bring:
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.

  • Plan, install, and configure PostgreSQL database systems (i.e. PostgreSQL v9.x to v13.x and EDB Postgres Advanced Server v9.x to v13.x) that meet business objectives and the needs of end-users.
  • Plan and carry out the upgrade and migration of databases.
  • Develop, implement, and test database backup and recovery plans.
  • Manage database and data security by controlling access to data through authentication, authorization, and auditing.
  • Perform tests to ensure database performance and security, as well as data integrity.
  • Document and administer database policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Troubleshoot and debug problems in existing database systems, and find new ways to improve their speed, functionality, and scalability.
  • Experience as a Postgres DBA, with advanced hands-on knowledge of:
  • Database setup
  • Security
  • Replication
  • Performance tuning
  • Disaster recovery
  • SQL Query Optimization
  • REPMGR v4.x or v5.x / EFM (Enterprise Failover manager) v3.x or v4.x
  • BARMAN v2.x/PgBackRest v2.x/BART v2.x
  • Pglogical v2.x/EDB XDB Replication v6.x
  • BDR Replication (multi-master replication)
  • Knowledge of Linux system administration, including configuration and automation tools such as Ansible, Python and Shell scripting
  • Should know ITIL concepts and hands on SNOW would be good.
  • Participating in 24x7 on-call rotation and being available to perform weekend OS/DBA maintenance activities on database servers.
  • Experience with container technology (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Strong AWS or Azure knowledge and experience
