POSITION SUMMARY:
Oversee supplier planning via EDI, emails, meetings, etc. Coordinates activities with other departments to assure proper delivery, quality, reliability, and low-cost consistency. Resolves conflicts that arise with supplier delivery schedules, raw materials, inventory, etc. Develops and/or assists in developing strategies and solutions to continuously improve cost levels, stable sources of supply, high quality of commodities and other governing factors. Participates in continuous improvement activities. Tracks supplier performance and works with suppliers to improve quality, delivery, cost, productivity and support. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field including four years of purchasing and/or materials experience.
- Strong leadership/team facilitation skills to develop strategies, plan and lead, manage, and coordinate timing of assignments.
- Excellent organizational skills in order to establish priorities, identify and set goals, meet deadlines, etc.
- Able to work 7 days a week if required with rotating weekends and vacation coverage.
- SAP planning experience. 1 to 2 years min.
DUTIES:
Work with suppliers in order to meet challenging and unique requests and address issues related to quality improvement. Quantities of items and services purchased are often large in volume in order to satisfy the requirements for an extended period of time. Complex schedules of delivery are often involved. Decisions focus on prioritization, process, and issues and usually involve moderate risk to the organization although results may have long-lasting impact. Work involves independent problem solving and decision making with general direction given on project objectives and broad guidance from corporate strategy and goals.
- Analyzing and updating all the SAP planning data, inventory reductions, etc.
- Interpreting data, analyzing results using statistical techniques.
- Developing and implementing data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases.
- Work with master scheduler and production to ensure Customer requirements are met on time.
- Coordinate the availability of unique material for production.
- Update and maintain customer ROS
- Update and maintain Red Flag data daily
- Participate in escalation meetings (internally and customer) - as needed
- Participate in cross-functional teams (Eng., Purchasing, Program Management, and Mfg.) to meet program objectives.
- Responsible for directing and monitoring the supply base to maintain minimum inventory levels.
- Participate in Commodity Global Teams to optimize supplier performance and minimize obsolescence.
- Develop partnerships with suppliers to ensure their conformance to Magna specified objectives.
- Work closely with Master Scheduler and Customer Admin to ensure any variances are managed accordingly.
- Other duties as assigned.
