Market Intelligence and Data Analyst
How you'll make a difference?

The Market Intelligence and Data Analyst will work as part of the Business Development team by providing insight on market conditions and trends, competitor performance, and potential implications for Orthofix using a broad range of data sources and tools. The analyst is a partner to Marketing, Investor Relations, and other cross-functional teams by analyzing historical trends and developing predictive market scenarios. He/she proactively creates and maintains tools and techniques to support competitor and market intelligence. The analyst regularly communicates industry trends and competitor updates to management.

  • Conducts research of the spine and orthopedic industry to provide key market data and trends (patient population, prevalence, total addressable market, growth rates, emerging technology, competitor performance)
  • Performs industry and competitive research; analyzes industry dynamics and the competitive landscape; reviews company filings, websites, and materials
  • Communicates existing market information, summarizes trends, and competitor performance (earnings, investment / M&A activity, product launches) to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Provides high-impact insights using primary/secondary research (qualitative and quantitative) and predictive analytics for new market segments and products
  • Develops market and competitor forecasts to guide business initiatives
  • Continually improves the efficiency and effectiveness of insight efforts by uncovering innovative research, business analytics tools, techniques and processes.
  • Influence multiple stakeholders to ensure sound insights are used to drive key business discussions for growth and stronger outcomes.
  • Supports Business Development objectives including the development and tracking of opportunities. The analyst prepares reports, dashboards, and other forms of internal communication to executive leadership
  • Prepare PowerPoint and excel presentations
  • Regular attendance required.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to understand, translate and integrate marketplace data and secondary data tools into impactful insights to drive decision-making is required.
  • Ability to begin to synthesize disparate data sources to provide an integrated insight view of the business is required.
  • Requires a high degree of business acumen, influence and strong executive communication skills.
  • Demonstrated success in creative problem solving and team partnership is required.
  • Due to the nature of information reviewed in the role, candidate must demonstrate a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written presentation skills are required.
  • Strong project management skills are required.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
  • Excellent attitude and capacity for learning quickly in a very dynamic, intensive environment



Education and/or Experience:

  • BS or BA in business, marketing, mathematics, or related field. MBA is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in competitive intelligence, secondary market research, forecasting, strategic insights, market research, business analytics, finance or a related field is required.
  • Experience in the spine, orthopedic, or similar medical device sector is preferred.



Language/Mathematical Skills:

Language Skills Required -

  • The ability to read, analyze and interpret business documents, procedures, periodicals and professional/clinical journals.
  • The ability to develop and write reports and correspondence relating to a broad range of functional activities.
  • Ability to make effective, professional, and persuasive presentations to a diverse internal or external population


Mathematical Skills Required -

  • Ability to review summary figures, identify trends and analyze impact relative to areas of responsibility.



Decision Making/Problem Solving Skills:

  • Must be able to define problems, collect necessary information, establish facts, draw conclusions and take appropriate action.



Reasoning/Analytical Skills:

  • Demonstrates critical thinking in their ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Must be able to develop tools and techniques to support analysis
  • The position requires the ability to develop priorities and adjust work plans to meet deadlines for themselves and the function.

Physical Demands:

  • Position is primarily sedentary and employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Standing, walking and meeting activities are required frequently throughout the workday. Ability to handle stress caused by constant change of priorities, unpredictable organization, greater than a 40 hour work week, multiple priorities and deadlines, and other unforeseen situations associated with the organization.
  • Normal sight or corrected vision is required to read documents and use standard computer terminals.
  • In order to meet the expectations of this position, it is essential the individual be willing and able to travel both domestically and international as business dictates. Overnight travel will be required.
  • Employee must be able to process paperwork and utilize office equipment (including personal computer, phone, typewriter, copiers, etc.). A large portion of the day is spent communicating orally in person and by phone. Normal sight or corrected vision is required to read documents and use standard computer terminals.



Work Environment:

  • Employee will work in private office area with a minimal noise level.
  • The employee will also be required to work in public environments such as restaurants, air terminals, convention sites, etc.
  • Employee will perform complex job tasks while experiencing numerous interruptions. This position has the utmost responsibility for compliance with the rules and regulations regarding a safe and healthy work environment relative to their actions and conduct.
