The Data Specialist for UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation (UHCCF) is responsible for establishing and maintaining standards for the donor management software and database; establish and implement a control system to ensure data integrity; and create and maintain written procedures for all data input and retrieval systems. The Data Specialist will work closely with the Development and Finance teams in collecting and managing donor and prospect related data for the purpose of increasing engagement, participation, and financial contribution. This position will report to the Director of Donor Research and Analytics within the UnitedHealthcare Children's Foundation organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the donor management software database (currently Raiser's Edge) to ensure effective:
    • Data entry, corrections, reporting and management;
    • Oversight connectivity with related software and functions;
    • Identification of system areas needing upgrades and additions; and
    • Training of development team in program and software operations needed for performance of their duties
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive and effective prospect management and research system to ensure that both current and potential investors are identified and qualified
  • Work closely with Development staff to ensure accuracy and consistency of donor and prospect information in the Raiser's Edge database, to include effective use of Actions and Prospect functionality as part of the prospect management system
  • Design, manage and develop financial, analytical, and special reports in order to provide effective information to various constituents - both internal and external
  • Work with Development staff to effectively identify subgroups, establish procedures for segmenting constituents for appeals, reporting, solicitations, recognition, etc. and provide lists as needed
  • Coordinate efforts with Finance to ensure appropriate and accurate data entry; timely issuance of all gift acknowledgments and recognition materials; and useful and user-friendly metrics, reports and donor information
  • Engages in and promotes UHCCF's culture of diversity and inclusion, encompassing individuals of any heritage, identity, status or orientation

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience CRM/donor database management
  • 2+ years of experience project management
  • Experience building reports and queries for internal and external audiences
  • Proven experience in process analysis and design
  • Proven experience cultivating relationships with key stakeholders
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Raiser's Edge 7.6/RENXT or similar donor management database and software
  • Understanding of sound quantitative and financial principals
  • Intermediate or higher-level proficiency in MS Office Suite, (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Access, Teams)
  • Proficiency in database operations, data imports and exports


  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters Degree
  • Ability to create / complete a cost-benefit analysis (CBA)
  • Demonstrates the commitment to equity, inclusion, and diversity
  • Ability to understand requests for data and accurately translate requests to effective queries
  • Solid communication skills
  • Demonstrated successful leadership skills in program execution
  • Ability to execute to short- and long-term growth and profitability targets
