Job Summary

We are seeking an innovative, curious and hard-working data engineer and developer to join our growing Digital Insights and Strategy team. The Lead Digital Analytics Data Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing data strategy for our very large and varied data sources that inform our digital business. The goal is to create fresh, comprehensive data environment to fuel day-to-day operations as well as ad hoc analysis to drive strategic decisions. The ability to develop new data sources quickly through the master data process as well as translate reporting needs into cleansing logic is key.

The position will develop the analytics asset roadmap and execute development of new data ingestion, cleansing, datamart creation and development of data resources for analysts. Ability to architect automation processes is key. Consumers of the data will include analysts, business stakeholders, Tableau reports and a variety of other sources.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Lead Google Cloud Platform development activities, ensuring coherent roadmap and implementation. This includes landing processes, data cleansing and datamart processes and overall automation.
  • Develop and maintain master data processes to allow us to bring all data together in a clean, coherent way.
  • Develop database and data processing architecture that is efficient, flexible and accurate.
  • Lead change management processes when updating data and reporting processes.
  • Provide design validation and troubleshooting for new technology and major changes within the environment.
  • Ensure reports follow best practices for visualization and usability.


Develop Analytical Resources

  • Develop and maintain the databases, tables and views for all digital analytics datasources. This means understanding how analysts need to report on data and create those base-level tables to make that possible.
  • Create a Minimum Viable Product for analyst to demonstrate how new features (released with each version) can enhance the tableau report.
  • QA and verify accuracy of all data through transformations, ensuring accuracy.
  • Do custom data pulls for specific analytics projects.


Manage Day-to-day operations

  • Manage day-to-day data operations of the datamarts, data loads and our analytics requests. This includes emergency fixes, routine updates, general tending of processes.
  • Create automation in Google Cloud Platform including monitoring


Support analysis and predictive analysis development

  • Help non-developer analysts access data through SQL coaching, pre-built queries and other resources
  • Document data and analytics resources for general consumption
  • Conduct regular training and ad-hoc coaching with analytics staff.



What we look for

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

  • Experienced working directly with large volumes of data using cloud platforms, specifically Google Cloud Platform, SQL, Python, Alteryx, R and other large-scale data technologies.
  • Experience with digital datasources such as Google Analytics, Google Ad Manager etc. preferred.
  • Our business changes quickly so the ability to explore, understand new data, and resolve problems on deadline is key
