Who We Are:
Data Science and Analytics plays a key role in the Core Data and Analytics (CDA) organization. We use data to provide key insights, business intelligence and data science products that advance NM's strategic priorities.
Role and Responsibilities :
As Lead Data Analytics Engineer, you will be a part of the Data Science & Analytics team. DSA/Core Data Client Experience team to support the improved client experience. Workstreams include Welcoming Journey, Health of the organization, Consumer Website, Mobile Products and more.
Our successful candidate will work with the team to build out data frameworks for building models and analytics solutions for our customers. You will advance the work by helping to turn those insights into impactful outcomes! Through team exposure and interaction with business clients, you will be able to gain experience on the domain knowledge. You will work with and lead to develop best practices, standards, and efficiencies.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- Lead large project efforts to acquire, analyze, combine, synthesize, and structure data for analytical consumption.
- Collaborate with data consumers and leaders to identify significant datasets for analytical consumption.
- Lead the design and application of engineering standard methodologies in order to analyze, design, develop, deploy and support data products.
- Influences team members through lean agile leadership.
- Leads the development of analytical data products using continuous deployment and integration practices.
- Lead all aspects of agile story authoring, sizing, and demo sessions for product features.
- Coordinate code reviews and provide feedback to the team.
- Mentor the team on solution and quality standards.
Qualifications :
- 6+ years of professional experience in data acquisition, cleansing, feature engineering, debugging and software documentation, using modern languages and practices.
- Experience using continuous integration and deployment concepts
- Consistent track record of successfully designing and delivering significant and impactful data analytics solutions.
- 5+ years experience with specific technical requirements/platforms will vary (i.e. AWS data science and analytics cloud technologies such as S3, EMR, Spark, PySpark, RDS, JupyterLab, Sagemaker, etc., data warehouses such as Redshift or Snowflake; and digital analytics tools such as Adobe Analytics and Heap)
- Expert programming skills
- Strong Python and cloud compute skills
- Strong SQL skills and background in ETL
- Deep understanding of distributed data systems and applications.
- Proficiency in data lake design and implementation considerations such as columnar storage formats (Parquet) and partitioning
- Deep understanding of analytics and data science applications
- Deep understanding of machine learning systems
- Set direction for development of requirement driven data models such as dimensional and relational.
- Deep understanding and awareness of regulations around the use of PII data.
- Ability to explain technical solutions to technical teams and non-technical teams
- Ability to provide thought leadership throughout the team/workgroup
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills
- Understand & promote data validation to guarantee data accuracy.
- Full understanding of the business domain and the meaning of the data in it to accurately identify key and associated data which can be extracted, transformed and loaded for effective consumption downstream.
- Design data flow so that data can be shared across the company with one source of truth being the goal.
- Shown success in coaching/mentoring others
- Big picture approach required, ability to assess from multiple perspectives
Preferred Skills and Abilities :
- Experience with Agile methodologies
- DevOps environment
- Experience with user ad hoc tools: Power BI, Business Objects, Tableau
- Consulting experience
