About the Google Cloud Data Architect Position: 

We are looking for a Google Cloud Architect who will design and implement an enterprise data warehouse for effective data extraction, cleansing and analysis. 


This role is great for someone who works well in a fast-paced and tight-knit environment where new ideas are welcome. Remote work available. Must have the ability to work within Eastern Standard Time Zone. Preference for candidates located in GA, TN, TX, CO, CA, NJ, FL, AL, NY, MI, OR, IL, KS, LA, MA, MN, NC, NV, OR, SC, PA, UT, OH, and IN


What You'll Do:

  • Database Design - Design, architect, and maintain a cloud-based data warehouse that supports analytical needs utilizing your expert knowledge of ETL development
    • Re-architect existing data warehouse, designing schemas and views to create a relational database.
    • Be able to design a comprehensive data warehouse and scale data pipelines with near real-time capabilities 
    • Create documentation of data warehouse data dictionaries and ETL processes
  • Data Modeling - Create robust data definitions, entity-relationship-attribute models, as well as relational and/or dimensional models.
    • Also assist in strategy for master data management 
  • Be the expert in cloud data warehouse architecture to deliver tables and views as the organizational-wide source of truth. Enable data scientists and other SQL power users to query and analyze data effectively  
  • Proactively look for opportunities to automate / reduce manual work or error handling, building robust processes.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and data engineers to define the data warehouse strategy. Will also facilitate and document data requirements as the foundation for database design, data extraction, data cleansing, and analysis.
  • Understand the business, how data flows through the organization, and have good communication skills to work with key stakeholders in order to identify and plan the ingestion of new data sources.
    • Will partner with data science, integrations, engineering and product teams
  • Build data validation and error processes, while maintaining and improving data security practices and ensuring data integrity.
    • Assist data scientists and other power users with creation of views and queries for data extraction
  • Effectively manage assigned projects, ensuring all documentation, project updates, and deadlines are appropriately managed.


What You'll Need:

  • Bachelors Degree in computer science, mathematics or related STEM field ideally
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering or related field, with hands-on experience developing custom ETLs, schema design, and writing complex SQL queries on large data sets
  • Advanced knowledge of Cloud Architecture, SQL, and at least one object-oriented language. 
  • Programs: Google Cloud Platform (GCP) / BigQuery / Stitch 
  • Experience with building data pipelines with task orchestrator such as Airflow
  • Ability to Prioritize: Understand business requirements for data requests and be able to properly prioritize
  • Proactive Problem-Solving: Flexible and creative solutions utilizing automation. Be able to quickly identify errors and troubleshoot
  • Team-Oriented: Ability to coach and develop assigned team members
  • Strong written and verbal Communication Skills: Ability to discuss topics at both a functional and technical level, interacting with stakeholders across different areas of the business.
  • Collaborative: Self starter with ability to communicate cross-functionally in order to derive requirements and architect solutions. Identify key stakeholders for user acceptance testing
  • Organized: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to produce and track against project plans. Ability to prioritize workload effectively, balancing between day to day tasks and project deliverables

Bonus Points:

  • Supply chain/logistics experience with exposure to WMS or ERP systems.
  • Experience with a language such as Python, R, JavaScript etc. Experience with Boomi also a bonus.
  • Google Certified Professional Cloud Architect
  • Experience with Hadoop, Spark, MDM, and/or Big Data Wrangling Tools
