Job Description The Data Quality Director leads a team of data research analysts in the gathering and assessment of data to investigate data quality issues across multiple lines of business in CCB and supporting technology teams across the firm. The Data Quality Director is responsible for the completion of the Issue Root Cause Analysis, documentation of finding and building executive messaging for Sr. Leadership reviews and remediation decisions/actions.
Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Manage a global team of issue analysts and direct their work across all sub-LOBs
  • Work across all sub-LOBs to identify SMEs and right level of support for research engagement
  • Partner and influence to get agreement on ownership of data research and deliverables
  • Transform technical information on root cause into easily understandable executive communication
  • Work with the portfolio leads (Issue Managers) and Controls Team to manage issues through the Data Quality Review Boards (Executive Decision Forums)
  • Partner with CCB Firmwide leads to drive issue management operating models, risk assesments, tools, and metrics
  • Work closely with the data owners and product cabinets to establish an effective operating model to manage data quality within critical analytical environments
  • Work closely with rules team and data governance team to ensure proactive and preventative data quality monitoring is in place as issues are identified/resolved
  • Demonstrate the ability to lead and grow an established team by attracting and managing strong, senior talent, and increasing the team capability to lead and own key components of the data quality research and issue management process
  • Influence and help shape the vision, architecture and operations automation for the team and individual components within the process
  • Drive timely execution and delivery of data quality issue root cause analysis, ensuring that the quality of research is meeting high standards within target SLAs.
  • Ensure the team is following the established repeatable and auditable process, while continually finding efficiency/improvement opportunity
  • Manage relationships across locations within the team, and with key stakeholders supporting the work effort
  • Quickly recognize, escalate, communicate, and mitigate risks within the data quality portfolio through understanding of priority and risk ranking of the portfolio and business impacts
  • Effectively manage and report on critical KPIs, KRIs and OKRs with Firmwide and CORE


Required

  • Demonstrate ability to lead effective teams, attract, retain, inspire and retain key talent
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders on both technical and functional topics
  • Advanced MS Office Suite Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of query writing and execution using SQL or other recognized data analysis tools.
  • Bachelor's degree or related equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years banking or finance related experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in data usage, process analysis, process improvement, business analysis or data sciences.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Senior Executive presence and communication


Preferred / Complementary

  • Operational business knowledge of processes, data and technology platforms.
  • Technical knowledge and hands on experience working on enterprise IT solutions
  • Understanding and experience of Big Data Concepts and technologies, and data management tools
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology
  • Business or Data Degree concentration preferred.
  • Six Sigma or Root Cause analytics experience.
