Reporting to the AVP of Workers Compensation and Group Benefits Claim Performance Analytics, the Director of Performance Analytics (the Director) will set the strategic direction for adding value by leveraging the claim data to provide actionable insights from the employer customer point of view. The Director will lead a small team of performance analysts and be accountable for advancing analytics for claims employer customers. In this highly visible role, the Director and team will work closely with our largest customers, Business Segment leads, Claims and various business partners from a diverse range of roles within The Hartford. You and your team will be responsible to ensuring that customer specific trends, metrics and deep dives are developed and monitored. This role is remotely based within the United States.

Responsibilities:

  • Opportunity to communicate a compelling analytic story to our largest customers and Senior Leadership team and Executives
  • Leadership and development of a team of Performance Analysts to create and enhance new analytical capabilities from our claim data and external sources
  • Partnership with Customer Account teams, Claims leaders and business partners to drive the development of new value add advanced analytics to provide insights to our employer customers
  • This role has a large Group Benefits component and also supports our Property and Casualty lines of business


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working with complex data to define unbiased metrics and test hypotheses in a large corporate setting required; at least some insurance industry experience required. Experience with advanced trending analytics preferred
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, a proven ability to use data to inform executive leaders and external customers. Ability to turn complex data into a compelling, clear, story
  • Proficiency in Tableau and/or ThoughtSpot or Dataiku, or other data visualization tools required
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor others
  • Disciplined and structured thought leader with the ability to understand customer needs.
  • Strategic thinker; intellectually curious; transparent approach to discussing analytics.
  • Ability to develop and leverage strong partnerships with a variety of key customers and stakeholders inside and outside of the company
  • Effective project management, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field


Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$125,040 - $187,560
