Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Database Analyst position is responsible for creating, enhancing, and deploying statistical and analytical models using both structured and unstructured data to inform decisions across customer services, customer solutions, marketing and sales at Georgia Power, Alabama Power, and Mississippi Power. Further, this position supports the company's access to, understanding of, and engagement with internal and external data sources and systems. This position reports to the Georgia Power Data Science Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, MIS, Computer Science, Econometrics, or a related field is required
  • A master's degree in an analytical field is a plus
  • 2 years of experience with data, analytics, and advanced statistics
  • Proficient with one or more programming languages (SQL, SAS, R, Python)
  • Experience developing and utilizing visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, infographics)
  • Familiarity with Hadoop or data lakes is a plus
  • Knowledge of utility industry, data, systems, and procedures is a plus
  • Experience extracting data from multiple sources
  • Data integration and ETL experience
  • Ability to prioritize projects for multiple internal clients
  • Problem-solving skills; ability to draw practical conclusions from data
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey data-driven recommendations

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, enhance, and deploy statistical and analytical models using both structured and unstructured data to inform decisions across customer services, customer solutions, marketing, and sales
  • Analyze internal and external data to shape a deeper understanding of our residential, commercial, industrial, and unregulated customers
  • Create profiles of customer segments
  • Target growth sectors and opportunities through advanced, repeatable, and deployable predictive models
  • Prepare target lists for campaigns to promote programs, services, and solutions
  • Provide samples for marketing research surveys
  • Manage and improve existing data sets, analytical tools, and processes
  • Ensure the data integrity through cleansing and maintenance
  • Support the organization's access to, understanding of, and engagement with data sources and systems
  • Create tools based on internal and external data so that other teams can leverage it within their roles
  • Create data visualizations
  • Act as a consultant to internal clients on how to use your analysis, present actionable recommendations
  • Produce accurate requested data analysis in a timely manner
  • Manage multiple, concurrent projects with competing deadlines
