Role and Responsibilities
Data is the foundation of FBN, core to who we are and what we do. Our farmer-facing digital tools are powered by massive geospatial datasets and sophisticated models, our R&D initiatives are powered by data science, and our internal company operations depend on effectively leveraging data to guide decisions. We are looking for an exceptional data engineer to collaborate with our data science, analytics, and engineering teams.
In this role, you will:

• Collaborate closely with data scientists to ingest diverse datasets and transform them into data pipelines for modeling, visualization, and reporting
• Munge and wrangle unruly datasetsDevelop and steward collections of big data (especially geospatial vector and imagery datasets)
• Manage internal tooling that empowers data science teams
• Automate data processing pipelines with rigor and care

What We're Looking for

• 3+ years of relevant experience in backend software engineering, data engineering, and/or data science
• Excellent software development skills (experience building REST APIs, managing ETL jobs, etc.)
• Python and/or R preferred
• Comfort working with SQL databases (Redshift and Postgres preferred)
• Experience with geospatial data storage and processing tools (especially with open-source geospatial tools in Python and R, PostGIS, and Google Earth Engine)
• Interest and experience in data visualization, analytics, and data science
• Experience collaborating with engineering and data science teams

The following represents FBN's reasonable estimate of the US national average base salary range of possible compensation for this role based on market data and placement of internal employees: $120,000 - $135,000.
This salary range may vary based on geography and variations in cost of labor. Beyond the above or adjusted to market salary range, FBN also offers all full-time employees competitive equity compensation, health and wellness benefits, and various perks.
