Data Architect

This position will support the new Enterprise Decision Support and Data Governance (EDGE) organization. This organization is a compilation of months of work to define how the Technology Organization (TO) and business will work, what roles each team will play and how to engage both organizations in support of the Chief Data Officer (CDO) positioned in the business. This position will help advance the TO Data Management and Data Analytics strategy by increasing our capabilities to deliver rapidly, efficiently while providing excellent value for the organization.

The Data Architect will work with stakeholders - both business and IT to gather functional and non-functional requirements, define and develop data-oriented solution architecture involving On-Prem and Microsoft Azure technologies that aligns with and supports the business and Technology Organization strategy and standards. Additionally, this position will be responsible for management and alignment of solutions across all technology platforms working closely with developers, data and infrastructure teams to optimize application code, ensuring reusable services, optimizing performance, planning capacity and ensuring app/data security.

This position will report to Program, Manager in the EDGE organization.

Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Data oriented solution architecture development experience utilizing Both On-Premises and Cloud (Azure) modern data architecture platforms and patterns.
  • Ability to create context diagrams as well as conceptual, logical and physical architecture as well as data orchestration diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing data engineering and analytics solutions using laaC, PaaS tools such as Oracle GoldenGate, SSIS, Autosys, PowerShell, AzureData Lake, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Python, Azure Synapse, Azure Key Vault, Azure App Services, ReactJS, .NET and Power BI.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing data models for structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Hands-on experience designing and developing solutions involving data sourcing, enrichment and delivery using APIs & Web Services.
  • Hands-on experience developing big-data technologies such as Distributed file Systems, HIVE and Spark
  • Experience with Containerization methodologies - Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift etc.,
  • Experience with Agile as well as DevOps, CI/CD methodologies.
  • Ability to provide guidance on app/data performance, high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Experience with designing re-usable solution components and perform code-reviews.
  • Experience working in a medium to large enterprise setting and collaborating with multiple cross-functional teams
  • Experience working on concurrent architecture assignments on multiple projects.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the GAS (Utilities) Industry and related data and analytics strategies
  • Hands-on experience with JIRA and/or Azure DevOps
