Job Summary
Barings is seeking an experienced analyst to assist in the coverage of both Agency and Non-Agency Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities (CMBS), including but not limited to SASB, Conduit and CRE CLO. The candidate will work closely with other securitized analysts, trading and portfolio management teams, as well as partner effectively with associates across Barings' global footprint of regional offices. The candidate is expected to help perform comprehensive credit analysis, evaluate sponsors, capital structures and underlying collateral fundamentals, as well as sector fundamental and macro trends. The candidate will need to work independently, as well as part of a team. The position will reside in our Charlotte, NC office, and report to the Barings' Head of Global Securitized Research
Primary Responsibilities
- Produce research from primary and secondary sources, including Barings' regional offices
- Support model development for analysis of sectors and securities
- Track issuer and industry trends as well as macroeconomic performance drivers
- Conduct surveillance on portfolio holdings and identify performance drivers of securities held
Qualifications
The ideal candidate would have the following:
- BA/BS in mathematics, computer science, finance or economics, or related field required; MS/MBA a plus
- 5+ years prior credit and/or real estate experience required
- Strong technical and quantitative skills; programming skills a plus
- Excellent attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and work ethic
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Experience with various analytical platforms including Trepp, Intex and Bloomberg
- Understanding of commercial real estate debt and valuation concepts
- CFA designation desired
