Business Analysis Manager - Climate Risk
Are you excited about helping Capital One define its risk management strategy for climate change? Climate risk has recently emerged as a critical area of focus for the banking sector. A new team has been established within Enterprise Risk Management charged with building out second line Climate Risk management capabilities. This includes risk identification, measurement and integration into governance and existing risk processes.
This role will support enhancements to existing risk management capabilities consistent with emerging regulatory expectations, and business opportunities.
As a Business Analysis Manager your role will be to lead and support climate risk identification, assessment, and management initiatives. This includes contributing to the development and implementation of risk frameworks, analysis, and project execution.
Responsibilities
Analysis & Advisory
- Partner to build an effective framework for the identification, assessment and management of climate related risk
- Support creation of Climate risk scenario analysis capabilities
- Educate and advise stakeholders on climate change, translating external frameworks, regulatory guidance and climate science into understandable and actionable insight
- Develop visualization tools and dashboards for risk domains
- Act as an engagement manager to take ownership for the delivery of analysis
Risk Leadership
- Support the development of strategy, framework, and standards to manage Climate risk across the organization and risk categories
- Integrate Climate risk into Risk Identification processes, taxonomy, relevant policy, processes, and governance
Reporting & Training
- Create materials for stakeholder education
- Develop Board updates
- Support climate risk content for external disclosures (e.g., 10-K, Climate disclosures)
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 2 years of experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis
- At least 1 year of experience in project management
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA)
- Risk Management certification (such as SCR, CERA, CRM, FRM), or equivalent experience
- At least 3 years of risk management experience, with background in credit risk management
- Working knowledge of risk regulatory and industry external frameworks, particularly in credit climate risk such as Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS) scenarios, European regulatory guidance, Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD)
- Experience in scenario analysis, decision science and/or mathematical-based background
- A proven track record partnering across diverse stakeholder groups
- Excellent written and oral communications skills, with the ability to synthesize complex concepts into consumable insights
