Description

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to conduct the analytical tracking and reporting processes for the Customer Operations organization which provides service to all gas utilities across Southern Company Gas. This position includes gathering, interpreting, and formatting metrics and providing analytics for internal/external presentations and decision making.

The incumbent for this role will support business needs, formulating and testing solutions to business problems, and assisting in the development strategy and implementation of optimal practices for these supporting functions. The incumbent is accountable for awareness and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations and ordinances, developing functional relationships, and measuring key performance indicators for both internal and regulatory service levels.

Job Responsibilities & Accountabilities by Competency

Functional Expertise:

• Understand business operations and metrics

• Administer analytical tracking and reporting processes of business metrics for

internal use and regulatory compliance

• Gather, interpret, and format data and metrics for presentations for internal and external use

• Explore the use of innovative tools and techniques to dissect and interpret information

• Drive operational efficiencies in a consulting role to increase business optimization

• Create visual presentations and reports (tables, charts, graphs, etc) of key performance indicators

• Fulfill ad hoc data requests as necessary and work with requestor to determine the requirements, develop the design and provide the output

Business Acumen:

• Leverage industry trend and benchmark strategies to identify business improvement opportunities

• Provide forward thinking insights supported by quantitative analysis to drive improvements

• Identify business needs, gaps, inefficiencies, and risk exposure to make recommendations that drive continuous improvement

• Provide analytical research and problem-solving to identify problems, issues and errors and determine root cause

• Serve as subject matter expert and provide analytical support on special projects

Engagement:

• Collaborate with peers and all levels of the organization to identify business opportunities and needs

• Participate in and conduct business and leadership meetings to understand initiatives and opportunities

• Manage partnerships and relationships within and outside the Customer Operations functions

Driving Results:

• Manage multiple/diverse priorities in a deadline driven environment

• Operate as a self-starter and be able to work independently

• Drive discussion on analytical influence and process improvement recommendations

• Leverage knowledge to provide decision making services to enterprise stakeholders

• Collaborate with the Customer Operations team to develop/implement new ideas and processes to reduce inefficiencies

• Drive improved productivity through proactive and continual business process analysis and recommendations

• Conduct discussions with the business to understand initiatives and develop action plans

Qualifications:

Education, Certifications/Licenses :

Required:

• BA/BS degree in business, finance, economics or similar field/equivalent work experience

Work Experience:

Required:

• 3-5 years combined experience with the utilities or other related experience

• 2-4 years' experience analyzing data and process improvement

• Knowledge of business operations and systems

• Experience in analysis and reporting

Preferred:

• 4-6 years analyzing operational data and business processes, modeling, or forecasting

• Understanding of natural gas industry
