Role Summary

The role sits within the Trust & Oversight (T&O) Central Services function, as part of the Systems and Reporting Team. This team provides enterprise-wide data, systems, and reporting capability to support oversight, assurance, across risk, compliance, legal, data protection, information security, financial crime and operational functions. The Data Scientist will play a key role in transforming data into actionable insight that supports decision-making, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. Working closely with business, technology, and governance stakeholders, the role will apply data visualisation techniques to solve complex problems, improve management information (MI), improve business outcomes. The Data Scientist will contribute to the design, development, and enhancement of analytical solutions that underpin T&O reporting and surveillance activity, helping to standardise data, improve insight quality, and enable consistent, scalable oversight across the organisation. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with solid experience in data analysis and reporting, who is comfortable working independently while contributing to wider data and analytics initiatives.

Core Duties/Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality data analysis and analytical insight to support Trust & Oversight (T&O) decision-making, assurance activity, and performance monitoring.
  • Support the standardisation and automation of reporting and analytics to reduce manual effort and increase reliability and insight quality.
  • Design, develop, and maintain reporting solutions that enable consistent, scalable oversight across T&O functions, including Risk, Compliance, Legal, Data Protection, and Operational teams.
  • Work as part of the T&O Central Services Systems & Reporting Team, contributing to enterprise-wide dashboards and management information (MI) that support surveillance, assurance planning, and executive reporting.
  • Translate business and oversight requirements into clear analytical questions, selecting appropriate statistical and data science techniques to address them.
  • Document analytical methodologies, assumptions, and limitations to support transparency, reproducibility, and effective second-line oversight.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of T&O systems, reporting frameworks, and analytical capability by sharing best practice and reusable solutions.
  • Ensure analytical work complies with data governance, information security, model risk, and data protection requirements, particularly when handling sensitive or regulated data.
