ECS is seeking a Data Scientist to work remotely. Please Note: This position is contingent upon contract award.
This Data Scientist role is full-time supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information Technology (OIT) Veteran Experience Services Eligibility and Enrollment (VESEE) Product Line. This role supports modernization of Eligibility and Enrollment to build a seamless experience for Veterans, their families, and caregivers and contributes to improving VA employee and Veteran lives and working towards a larger mission. The position will involve identifying methods to create valuable insights from existing data, and preparing and making data-driven recommendations for business automation and other insights.
Tasks for this role include:
- Data mining, statistical and graph-based algorithms via technologies like R, Python, and PowerBI
- Identifying opportunities to leverage AI and emerging technologies
- Support efforts to improve the policies, procedures, and tools the agency has at its disposal to improve data quality
- Reviewing application and enterprise data models (conceptual, logical, physical) to identify data quality problems
- Writing code to ensure the performance and reliability of data extraction and processing
- Configuring test and training data sets for use by team members
- Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into data science solutions
Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000

Preferred Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree required
- 5+ years experience
- Experience in design, analysis, and implementation of large-scale, complex data architectures
- Good analytical skills with a focus on critical thinking, problem-solving, numeric reasoning, and creativity
- Quantitative analysis including experience with SQL or statistical/mathematical software (e.g., R, SAS, Stata)
- Strong Python skills
- Knowledgeable in a breadth of statistical computer languages to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
- Knowledge of Data Management and Data Architecture concepts, Data Warehousing and Big Data tools, Data Analytics and applicable knowledge of Data Science concepts and tools
- Experience with data standardization and data governance processes
- Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions, and ability to communicate them with data visualization techniques and tools
- Demonstrated strong communication and presentation skills (particularly to non-technical audiences)
- Good team player, able to manage multiple assignments, and adapt to changing client needs
- Ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative, results-driven environment
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
