We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate is an inquisitive self-starter with a strong passion for diving into data, uncovering insights, and promoting data-driven decision making. You should be eager to tackle challenges, think outside the box, and bring creative solutions to the table.

As a member of the Data Science Chapter, you will work within our agile squads to drive impactful projects and initiatives. Our Agile delivery model promotes a fast-paced, collaborative environment that values continuous learning and innovation. You will have the chance to shape the future of our data initiatives, leveraging the latest technologies and methodologies to push our capabilities to the next level.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:

• Craft and execute data-driven solutions to store intelligence, leveraging advanced analytical methods to maximise efficiency and outcomes for stakeholders.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Machine Learning Engineering, Data Engineering, and Data Platform groups, to understand business requirements, deliver data-driven solutions, and enhance data capabilities.

• Designing and conducting experiments to test hypotheses, validate findings, and ensure rigorous data science execution, covering scoping, building, testing, implementation, maintenance, tracking, and optimisation of predictive models.

• Communicating findings and insights effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring data-driven decisions are well-understood.

Now let’s talk about you: 

• Communication / Team work: You excel in collaborating within a complex team environment, managing relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders. You maintain clear and consistent communication in a remote setup, using digital tools to foster teamwork and inclusivity. 

• Growth mindset: A strong desire to learn and continuously improve, embracing challenges as opportunities for growth and adapting to new information and approaches.

• AI usage proficiency: You use AI tools and platforms to enhance productivity and streamline workflows.

• Proficiency in all stages of the Data Science lifecycle and relevant tooling (e.g. Python, SQL, Common modelling approach)

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure.

Desirable

• Mentorship: Guide other team members, fostering skill development and encouraging a collaborative learning environment.

• Proven experience in building and optimising a variety of predictive models in commercial environments, preferably with exposure to retail store operations

• Expertise in demand forecasting will be highly regarded but not essential.

• Experience working for retail business  will be highly regarded but not essential.
