The Leidos National Security Sector (NSS) is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Data Scientist that will support Information Operations (IO) initiatives under the J39 directorate by leveraging advanced data analysis techniques to extract actionable insights. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing complex data sets, developing predictive models, and providing data-driven recommendations to enhance IO campaigns.
This position is on a future contract pending award announcement.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, ingest, and preprocess multi-source data sets from HUMINT, SIGINT, OSINT, open-source platforms, social media, sensor data, and commercial datasets.
Apply advanced analytical techniques—including machine learning (ML), natural language processing (NLP), deep learning (DL), and predictive modeling—to extract operational insights.
Integrate Human Aspects and Informational Aspects of the Information Environment into data models that support target audience analysis, influence operations, and behavioral assessments.
Build predictive models to support MISO, PSYOP, MILDEC, cyber, and non-kinetic targeting planners.
Support Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) development to assess influence operations and narrative impacts.
Collaborate with IO planners, behavioral scientists, OIE integrators, and targeting analysts to ensure actionable data outputs.
Visualize complex data sets into decision-support products, dashboards, and operational briefs for senior leadership.
Stay current on emerging data science technologies, platforms, and analytic tools relevant to influence operations, irregular warfare, and strategic competition
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or related field (Master’s preferred). Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
5+ years of experience in data science, predictive analytics, statistical modeling, or machine learning.
Experience with Python, R, SQL, and ML frameworks (Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
Experience applying NLP and text analytics techniques to narrative analysis and sentiment detection.
Proficiency in data visualization tools: Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, or equivalent.
Experience applying data science to social media analysis, influence operations, or foreign information environment monitoring.
Familiarity with C2IE or command-level information environment situational awareness platforms.
Excellent analytic writing, briefing, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in Data Science, AI, Machine Learning, or National Security Analytics.
Experience supporting USSOCOM, CENTCOM, INDOPACOM, or J39 organizations.
Experience with advanced analytic platforms: Open.IO, Babel Street, Echosec, Scraawl, Maltego.
Experience integrating OSINT, HUMINT, SIGINT, and GEOINT into cross-domain analysis.
Familiarity with operational frameworks such as PMESII-PT, DIMEFIL, Human Aspects, and the Information Joint Function.
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
Prior experience briefing senior military leadership (O-5 and above).
Experience with network analysis platforms (Palantir, Analyst Notebook)
